Im sure this question has been asked many times before..but, ive had my spindles on for about 4 months now, and i get the occasional steering wheel shakes...not at any specific speed.

also, I took my truck in for its 5k service, and toyota did their basline alignment, and they told me the front camburg was a little off.. when I had the lift installed, I had it alligned the same day....

does anyone have suggestions on what i should do? Re-alignment? Thanks Guys

Depends on your UCAs, the Maxtrac is designed to work with stock geometries so if you're running an aftermarket UCA that is designed 'Shorter' it essentially pulls the tops of your wheels "In" creating more positive camber "Bottom of the wheels In" as these types of UCAs are designed with Spacer lift or Coil Over Lift "Bilsteins or Icon, Fox, Kings ADS adjustable collar type" of lifts.

I had the same issue with my truck when using my Maxtracs with the DSM Boxed UCAs. I have since switched over to the Icon Billet UCAs and when aligned the tech had every aspect well within the 'Green' on spec. Actually drives outstanding now and love how well the steering responds.

You have 2 solutions, get the adjustable height Coil Overs or get factory geometry UCAs that are adjusted by Heims joint like the Icon Billet or the TC Heimed UCAs. Just keep in mind I'm in Arizona and it's very dry here so the heim joints will go the distance. Since you're on the coast your mileage will vary.

    Good Luck Sir . . .

Just bums me out when ppl try to mix incompatible components then blame ( take your pick ) the components when there is No Issue with either of them. Other than they were designed to do one thing and ppl try to utilize them to do something complete different for what they are designed to do !

    Einstein said it best
“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”

The UCA are still stock, only suspension upgrade was the spindle. Taking it into the shop next week...im thinking its a balancing issue. thank you for your reply.

I noticed the same when I went from 265/70/R16s to 285/75/R16s and when I did a tire rotation the small 'Shimmy' in the steering wheel went away.

You may want to try a simple tire rotation and see if that does the trick, nothing to lose but 30 mins or so or if you're lucky maybe Costco or Walmart will do it for free . . .

Is it possible to get the alignment in the green with DSM UCA's and stock spindle? No spacers and King 2.5 coilovers? Thinkin about swtichin back to stock spindles and selling my maxtracs.

Of course, as long as there is pre-load on the coil overs as that is what the DSM geometry is engineered to correct . . . If no coilover lift or spacer lift then it will not align, but that is with Any UCA that is for after market coilover lift or spacer lift . . .

Ok, showing my ignorance here... I was completely oblivious to this. I'm having my spindles installed this Wednesday and don't want steering wheel shakes that it sounds like I may have since I have Icon tubular UCA's. So is it a sure thing that I'll experience this or just a possibility? If it's a definite then will using the .85 settings on my 5100's be enough to prevent it?

    Thanks.

Yes please do set your Billy's at higher than 0 to avoid any alignment issues, or you may have alignment issues, depending on where your truck alignment settings are at currently. That was the case with me and adjustable hiemed UCAs set me in the green all around after adjustments . . .

Thanks for the reply HectoRome. if you don't mind indulging me, will setting the Billies at .85 make a noticeable lift over the spindles? I'm trying to avoid bro lean and have as near a stock comfortable ride as possible. I understand that the Spindles widen the stance enough that the actual lift can vary so I'm hopeful that the shock setting won't raise the front that much. Also, any preload on the factory springs makes for a rougher ride. I tried Billies at 2.5 on stock coils and it was a terrible dash rattling ride so I'm hesitant to put any preload on the coils since the reason why I purchased the spindles was to get the stock ride back. Just trying not to make things worse and make an improvement over my present setup. Thanks.

You have one huge thing going for you that I did not, which is adjustability.

Leave your billy's at 'Zero, see where your ride height is at that setting. How your front end aligns is dependant on the where your current camber adjustment cams are set you may have the needed adjustment to align your front end. I did not, how ever your vehicle will vary as will everyone elses. There is the probability that it may not align and you're out the cost of alignment ( I wasn't charged as the alignment shop didn't charge me since they were unable to align - Great Shop ! ) or maybe not, depends on the shop.

Good Luck Sir, I'd really like to know how things go for your Tacoma . . .

Maxtrac spindles, billies at 1.75, allpro stnd leaf pack
Have any of you guys with the maxtrac spindles looked at your extended brake lines in a while......i have had mine a little over a year and i installed some bilsteins today and i noticed the plastic coating on my brakes lines are all cracking and peeling off, some areas are showing the bare steel braid. The coating all over is very brittle.
These are definitely a poor quality, or cannot handle the heat? The rear lines still look good but they are not close to the brakes

I am wondering if anyone else that have had these a while has this problem or if its just me

Mines doing it also, drivers side is the worst. Passenger side is starting to crack.
Mine haven't even been on a year. I'm not sure if it will hurt anything, they are stainless.

Mine were such a pain to install i hope it doesnt hurt anything because i really dont want to do it again.

It seems they maybe hitting the sway bar at full lock maybe that what was causing them to do that.......anyways i removed my sway bar this morning and now at full lock they are far from hitting anything. Hopefully i dont have to worry about them anymore
