I am looking at getting this travel trailer

    http://www.pacificcoachworks.com/products/econ-e16bb

My truck is an '04 Doublecab 4x4 with a ton of stuff on it. See signature below. I plan to add a brake controller.

    Variables include:

    1. Carrying a family of 4
    And
    2. Carrying motorcycles in the bed (I will remove the shell for this)
    3. The effect all my mods have on tow capacity

I know the suspension can handle to weight the OME's hardly squat with a motorcycle in the bed. With 2 dirt bikesand gear it will drop an inch. The rear normally sits an inch high anyway.

I am concerned that I am overloading the truck. I recently towed a 2100 pound tent trailer for a week without any issues. I didn't have a brake controller, it still did OK with the Tundra brakes. The power was fine but this travel trailer is heavier and less aerodynamic.

The overall weight it not the problem. The issue will be tongue weight and the extra weight in the bed. How many motorcycles and how much do they weigh? Gear can be stored in the trailer as with any other heavy items.

Airbags could be a solution to sagging.

Get a toy hauler and put the motorcycles in the trailer.

I will usually carry just 1 bike, likely my dual sport, 300 pounds.

Toy haulers don't work for me for several reasons. This won't be a dedicated toy hauler setup. I just need the option of carrying a bike. I don't want a toy hauler.

    1. I need 3 beds for the family camp trips. All the toy haulers that sleep 4 with 3 beds are too big for my truck.
    2. Weight. They are much heavier than travel trailers
    3. Overall width for my parking space causes problems.
    4. Toy haulers are just not that nice inside until you get to the really big ones. I'm trying to work with what vehicle I have. That little travel trailer is what suits my needs.

    So can I tow it?

Edit: I don't see a sagging issue with my suspension. It is kinda ridiculous how much weight it takes

If it's just the bike and a gas can, I think it would be ok. Not ideal, but not terrible. Really depends on the tongue weight of the trailer. Put what gear you can in the trailer and not the bed.

Don't base your payload off what the website says. Look at the sticker on the door jam of the driver's side. My 14 DCSB is 1,080lbs. Also, that tongue weight is the dry tongue weight. Figure 13% of the loaded trailer weight. Either way, you will be fine towing that.

No one piped this in yet, but with all that weight airbags might not be a bad option. Your back end is going to be heavy with the bike and tongue weight on there.
