Shelf Life/Canufixit....I'm fine with the springs I put on. I don't want their springs. I just want my money back. Which is about half as much money as toyota's springs and labor at a dealer. Not that they care about that. Like I said, I'm completely fine with a dealer inspecting, saying good, 'checking off' the second letter and me submitting my docs. However, Its my understanding the dealer makes money off recalls. They get reimbursement from Toyota for the labor and also don't pay for the parts. Parts come from Toyota for these fixes. They're going to want to do the work.

As for their new design being better....I wouldn't count on that nor do I want to. Just my feeling/opinion. That won't change at this point. I have the manual and had the clutch chirp. They replaced the entire clutch at their cost with the 'new' design and the noise came back (there's 2 different clutches, Ive now had both). Now its on me to replace. So they redesigned a part(s), and still didn't fix the issue. The dealer that did the work admitted they did a bad job with the parts and offered to replace them again at my cost.....my response was why in hell would I put the same shitty parts back on, pay for it, and repeat the process when it happens again? That's the definition of insanity. How about making parts that work properly?....that last statement, maybe I am insane.

I'm looking forward to new rear leaf springs! At this point, anything will be better than my sagging, non TSB, 3 leaf springs from 2009.

    I have faith in Toyota!

I don't know that the dealer will push to replace them if you just want them to sign off. Typically the dealer makes less money per hour on warranty work then they would charge normally. If they have plenty of business I don't see why they won't sign off and give you the ok.

I really hope the new springs are better, but I'm planning to buy the 3 leaf wheelers add a leaf to add to it just in case.

It still makes no sense to me for Toyota to do a major recall just to provide the same parts that got them in trouble in the first place. That is not cost effective. If they slap on the same weak azz springs, the problem doesn't go away, and we can chalk one more up for losing faith in their quality.

I tried contacting local dealership today, but was not able to get ahold of anyone. I'll be calling again tomorrow. I may have to call the 800 number.

    Also, I have an AAL...

I had work done on my clutch because of that chirp noise. when the clutch pedal was depressed it wouldn't make the noise but as soon as i released it in neutral or in gear the chirping would start. The shop replaced it and 20k later it came back. took it back to the shop and they replaced it again. I Had to take it back to the shop 3 times all just before the 25k warranty before they figured out that it wasnt the clutch but the housing around the clutch cylinder had a slight groove that the new clutch would eventually slip into and make the noise.

Im glad the shop made things right and replaced it a final time including the new upgraded cylinder or housing. I would definitely refer anyone o this shop as their service is excellent.

Also, took mine into the dealer for the recall. service manager said new leaf packs are going to be in July or August.

(Last time i mention it...don't want to get off the subject of this thread) Win9, that's how mine was making the noise too. I skipped the BS this time. Installed the URD clutch kit. Problem/noise gone.

I wouldn't say they made it right. What choice did they have? You were under warranty. Making it right would have been doing it 1,000 miles out of warranty on good faith because some of their parts are shit. Happy that it worked out for you tho for sure!!

July or August huh. Awesome. So it'll work out that I loaned Toyota my money to fix their problem for about a year and a half. Douchebags.

I subscribed to this thread when it came out to get an update when the fix would be available, but wow this is like 30 pages of whining about Toyota and they're shit parts.
My 05 has 150k miles on the original springs and I'm happy as a pig in shit that I'm getting some free springs so I have to unsubscribe to this thread.

    Talked to Toyota corporate yesterday.
They have 750K spring sets to replace.
Don't hold your breath on this.
If anyone has a broken spring they will be doing these first.

I would love to get new springs but I don't think I really want to take my springs apart and take all of the leafs I've added out. Go to the dealership get new springs. Take them apart and add my extra leafs. Seams like a lot of work. Now if they would just give me the new leafs and I could swap everything over at one time, I would go through with it.

    2 choices.
Let Toyota get their new springs,& add new leafs before tech installs them or,
Let dealership install new springs then remove, install additional leafs, replace yourself.
    I vote #1.
