What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I like the cbi mount too.. Was considering getting the dr and passenger side mounts and putting a little LED dualie on the dr side and a firestick on the passenger side.

 

Got an xm deck installed last night. Bluetooth and all the goodies. Now the lighting matches the cluster and console lights

 

Very nice. Whose tcase is that?

 

I'm about to pull the trigger on a rack from rack doctor. Are the poly bushings worth the $?

 

Eh I used energy suspension polys and noticed a difference, but my bushings before were pretty trashed..

 

Im trying to Install diff drop spacers today. the bolts I got in my kit were shorter than the stock ones though. I'm just going to go find new bolts at a Hardware store,
so what grade bolts should I get?

 

NGp is for boats.

 

The shorter antenna will be a similar length of wire, just tighter like blackdawg said. You tune it to the radios output.

Where'd u get that diff drop from? might be hard to find the bolt you need at a hardware store. Isn't grade 8 as high as it usually goes? That's what I usually go with.

All-pro. I ordered the kit a very long time ago, never got around to installing and forgot about it. Found it in the back of my tool box last weekend haha

I found a good length bolt, but the diameter is too wide. I'm checking a few more stores to see what I can find

 

If you can't find the correct bolt Id just put the original hardware back and call up all pro and see what's up. Maybe they will ship you some new bolts free.

I remember I searched so many hardware stores and auto stores for a bolt that would fit the leaf spring bolt that connects to the frame. maybe I'm bad at finding bolts but I ended up just getting it from toyota stealership.

 

That might be my only option. It's just weird, I've never heard anyone having any trouble with this kit before. If the bolt was 1/4 inch bigger everything would be fine

 

It seems like a good ground plane is the most important part to getting a good SWR and having good range and reception. The flat metal area of the hood and the cab roof offer this.

I wheel with guys that have a 5', 4', 3' and '2, all using the same radios. The 2' is every bit as strong as the others. His is a hood mount. The weakest one of the bunch is the 4' er. His is mounted on the tailgate. Not a very good ground plane there.

 

Speaking of 4'ers. FIFY

 

Why do you assume I was referring to you. Your's wasn't the only 4'er.

Absolutely. A quality antenna, grounded properly, will work great at most wheeling distances.

 

And, doing it aging tonight. Didn't even move my truck today. Only thing that could have possibly changed is temperature/stuff freezing. There has been some wet snow freezing and melting the last couple of days.

My rack doctor rack came with rubber bushings. Swapped them for Energy Suspension bushings.
