I added a spec sheet to the post that shows it still retains quite a bit of energy even at 300 yards. I prefer the heavier 300 grain bullets in this rifle but it is good to try new things out in it. We have an Aluminum bullet available too, 100 grains. It hauls butt the first 100 yards but really peters out quickly after that. I like the fact that our industry is changing a bit and new things are coming into use. Poly cases, Poly/Copper bullets, Powder coated bullets, induction annealing, etc. The annealing part for other calibers, the 458 Socom doesn't need annealing, ever. We get 20+ loadings per case. :)

Brass is made several times a year now. It does run about 80 cents to a dollar a case but when you can get 20+ loadings per case with no annealing whatsoever, it isn't such a bad deal.

I disagree the hogues are bigger than the magpuls and the magpul moe+ is similar in size to the mil spec grip.

No way - maybe in length but I think he's probably concerned about grip circumference. I run Magpul and Ergogrips because I like the larger grips. Had a Hogue on my first AR - it was almost the exact same size as the mil issue grip except it had finger grooves and was overmolded. Shot a friend's standard issue grip last weekend and I was amazed - I had forgotten how thin a military AR grip is.

Edited to add - I'm specifically referring to the Moe Plus overmolded grip. I have no experience with their K grips - those look smaller.

I also have used the Tango Down Battlegrip and it's a slim little grip that some really like. Mine is in the parts drawer. They've since come out with a bigger model I think.

Packing up for the range right now actually, so I snapped a photo of the Moe+ from the back. It flares out quite a bit.

    I've narrowed it down....

Its between the moe plus (rubber) and the k2 (with rubber over mold).

Got some more 6.8 stuff done today. Just uppers as usual. The way I prefer it.

Something different. 16" Ironworks 6.8 with thread protector.

    ImageUploadedByTapatalk1424560216.200985.jpg
    Logo'd our complete uppers finally.

An 18" IronworksTactical 6.8 done in Patriot Brown.

We sure do use a lot of Troy handguard. We currently offer Troy, Samson and Midwest Industries. The troys are selected over the other 2 probably 10:1. Although we will be expanding the line the new Mega M-LOK stuff this year. Thankfully.

Me either! Doesn't fit my hand. Then again I hate the rubber over mold.

Wut? They must have added a significant palm swell in the past few years. Fair enough!

Back from the range. My new BCM worked great and loves my bulk 55 gr reloads. My scoped gun didn't work as well - I assume the match chamber and the suppressor = a dirty gun with tight tolerances. No good. A good cleaning should help.

LOVE the BCM though - couple hundred rounds of 55 gr softpoint & FMJ downrange without a hiccup.

Really does look different with just a thread protector. THough I like it and wish more manufacturers would offer it as at least an option. More and more people are getting suppressors :)

I ended up using Troy handguards on most of my AR's as well. Just seems like the feature to price point is perfect. Especially picking them up during sales.

Though I might go for something else for a 10.5 (or 11.5) 556 upper and a 10.5 458socom upper. Both have suppressors and I want to do a partially covered suppressor with the rail. But finding something with more than 1.5ID is a bit tricky. So far the Seekins MCSE V2 Keymod is what im leaning towards

You can see Troy VTACs on both the guns in my post above. I love them and you can directly attach a Magpul MVG if you want.

I had never seen a mid-length VTAC behind a pinned A2 sight so I was anxious to try it out. It works great and makes for a nice free float setup for an HD gun.

I'm a fan of the Troy too. I have a MRF, TRX and SDMR on my 3 rifles. Since most of my customers are hunters the fact that so many people make after market stuff for the Troy is a big help.

I like the MIAD hard ole plastic grips. Always have. The rubber ones eat holes in my hands when I carry the rifle for 5-7 hours at a time.

I am looking at scopes for the new build and specifically 2x8. What is the general consensus between a Vortex Diamond Back HD (249.99) and a Nikon M223 (349.95) or Nikon Monarch 3 (299.95). All the prices are from Optics Planet without searching for deals
