Overkill, I am too but I kinda like the way this truck looks with the XD addict.

 

Installed my shocks yesterday testing them out to see if need a new spring or not.

I was wondering has anybody ever changed there steering rack ball joints to hemi?

 

I looked at doing the heimed steering kit but it is stupid expensive @ $600 and you have to be really careful about fit in regard to the back spacing of your rims and bump steer. Your tie rod ends are located on the spindle so that they put your tie rods at the proper angle in relation to your CA's. When you alter those angles bump steer comes with it. The misalignment spacer with a heim kit is much taller than a ball joint so clearance with the back of your rim and bump steer are potential issues. The advantage of the OE inner tie rods vs the beefy tubing of a heim kit is that your inner tie rod will bend before doing damage to your steering rack.

 

You decided not to rebuild? How do they feel?

 

Going to rebuild them i just wanted to see with all the crap i have on the front if i need a new spring.

That looks jacked up.

I believe the struts add some lateral support for the DB. Just sayin'....

Most of the credit, however, goes to my coworker for doing the actual work of getting it drawn, cut and bent.

 

So, after reading thru a LOT of this thread, I think I've got what I want to do figured out. The truck is a 2015 DCSB Sport 4x4. My plan is a RCD lift with OME 883s to give another 1.5" of lift in the front and custom Alcans out back. I plan to run 17x9" wheels with 4.5" of back spacing and 315/70-17 tires.
Does all this sound OK?? I know there might be slight rubbing, but I'm OK with trimming a little plastic.

 

I've read somewhere (can't remember) that after some people installed the BDS coilover lift they had squicking problems. Has anyone that has the bds lift had this? I doubt it's true but was just wondering if it was though.

 

Ball joints need care, my TC uppers and lowers get noisy. I keep a bottle of triflow lube in my glovebox. I add a drop after a pressure wash

 

Is that the only noise wise problem you had?

 

Well there is the Tacoma tick, but I don't hear that on my '15. There was the clunk in my front calipers when the pads would shift. If I had a heavy protein day my ass would be noisy as well....

You will learn that as you start adding parts and wheeling a lot, you get more noises.... Cause race truck!
