Tailpiping vs turndowns? (Vids inside) need info

    Sup everyone? Im a newb on here but definitely not a newb to tacomas, Ive learned alot from customtacos but Im wondering if someone could please answer a question for me. I currently have a cherry bomb extreme muffler with dual turndowns at the rear axle and it sounds like this:

    (excuse the check engine light in the first vid, the truck only had 1 cat at the time of the vid and it messed up the o2 sensor)
    I kinda like the way it sounds now but its kinda raspy and rattles everything in the interior (gets lot of compliments though and with turndowns, its the best ive heard on the 3.4) Back in high school, it was all about who had the loudest car/truck but now that Im out, I really dont care for all that noise anymore but I still want it to have a nice rumble to it. My question is, what will it sound like if I run dual tailpipes straight out the back? How much is that going to quiet it down? (Just thinking about it, my guess is the interior should be a lil quieter but id still like to hear it and i have no idea what its going to sound like outside) Any ideas? Will this kinda mellow it out and make it sound not necessarily as loud but have a better overall sound? Ive heard some 3.4L tacomas with dual flowmasters sound very nice at idle (v8ish) but when they take off, it doesnt sound so great, thats why Im thinking keep the extreme under there and maybe it will be less ricey.

    At :23-:48, this truck sounds simply amazing and this is the sound Im aiming for, maybe a tad bit louder if possible. Will piping it out give it a rumble like this one has at idle? Also, one last question, it sounds kinda hollow now sort of like a mustang gt and doesnt pop when I rev it up, is tailpipes going to make it pop? Sorry for the super long post here but Ive changed my exhaust up a few times in the past and I want to get some opinions from others before I go out and waste more money and not be happy at all :(

    getting there....
    not real sure about that particular muffler....but i guarantee you running pipes straight out the rear will give the truck more of a rumble..........since the exhaust has more piping to flow thru. it should get rid of some of the raspiness too. i dont really know if it will make it louder, but im pretty sure it will be alot more mellow than having just turn downs.

    2001 with; cat-back side-swept twin exhaust, elbow mod, Westin bullbar with Hella 450 driving lights, Snugtop XTR camper shell, TRD off-road 2x4-black beauty.
    IMO you gotta have something to LOOK at to see where all that cool exhaust note is coming from..also you really dont want that much loss in backpressure. Running pipes all the way out will likely eliminate most of that popping. The deep rumble you hear now is there because the truck body is acting as a soundboard. At certain angles around the truck it doesnt sound the same. IMO some nice tidy pipes with chrome tips would be nice to show you have performance exhaust (less exhaust fumes collecting under you at a stop too):)

    thanks, that what i was looking to hear :D idc about if its louder anymore, i just want a better sound out of it at idle especially but also going down the road.

    I agree man, at one point though, it seemed like hardly anyone had turndowns and I was trying to be different but now i guess the craze is out and almost every sport truck out there has turndowns. At certain angles around the truck, it definitely sounds different. From the rear and to the right by where the pipes exit, it sounds pretty good but on the left and toward the front, it doesnt sound as good.     Havent seen em on a tacoma yet so hoping they look good shooting straight out the back. Thanks for the replies and if anyone else wants to chime in, feel free!
