Married or divorced? Need advice

I did not read all the replys so maybe someone already said this, YOUR 23, live a little first. I was married at 23 and divorced at 35. Mainly because I grew up and she did not. At 23 we partied all the time till we hit 28-30 and then all I wanted to do is be with our kids and all she wanted to do is party...I knew I should have left years before but stuck with it for my kids... I now have full custody of them and put my entire life on hold to raise them... All I can say is it does not hurt to wait...

Sometimes...you just know and He/She is THE ONE . It's hard to explain to folks and some folks probably never feel or sense that.

I've been happily married for 19 years. I was 24 when I got married. After my first date with him (1990), I called my Mom the next day and told her 'THIS IS THE ONE'. We were married in 1995.

Although, things are different now-a-days with you young folks. YET - That 'feeling' you get will always be the same throughout the generations.

You've made the commitment and you've solidified your love. From here on out - it's a unity of togetherness. You both will have to work together in keeping that unity strong and resilient. There will be bad times - and its your love, your faith, your strength to work thru it together. Stay strong, stay happy, be spontaneous, be hard working, be respectful, motivated, initiave....yadda yadda yadda.

And don't forget about the love and support of your family & friends.

Not kidding. In general happier couples stay together. Don't sweat the small stuff. Don't hold grudges. Have a general good outlook on everything, and you guys will be all good.

I'm divorced and re-married. My first marriage was basically me and my ex yelling at each other. Now, my wife and I rarely fight. We have our occasional disagreements, but nothing crazy. Also learn to drop the issue. Truly think about what you might disagree on, and if it really is worth a battle. Don't get me wrong, some things are, but most things you realize are just you being stubborn and set in your ways. So its better to let it go. You're not and never will be the same person, so you'll always think differently about some things.

Which would you buy to bring as a gift?
In my eyes, a Skilsaw and drill press and channel locks and etc in a well stocked garage is far more important than the sheets on a bed or the shiny plates in the cabinet that get pulled out twice a year.

Well, traditionally, the wedding gifts are meant to be items that the new couple will share and will need to start their new life together. If your fiancé likes to use your tool then I don't see where having some of these items on the list are a problem.

On second thought, it would probably be best to keep it traditional and just put housewares like pots and pans, sheets etc. on the list.

 

You want to be divorced before you even get married?

I put a few goofy things on my registry when I got married. Random weird shit, just because I knew people would laugh seeing them. But X2 on its supposed to be things for both of you.

Let's be honest here, it's really shit your wife to be wants. The man just gets to say which color of whatever he likes more, and even that's probably wrong.

 

If the marriage is going to work, you will be able to buy the tools you want/need after you're married. Leave the registry for the household stuff.

I agree with so many on here, I was married the first time for 8 years when it fell apart, met my now wife and got married after being together just over a year a half. I knew when I met her she was the one and when I walk in the door every night I feel like I am home with my best friend. You need to feel like you don't want to be without that person ever and want to spend the rest of your life with her. You have to understand that everyone changes for themselves and you cannot change that or make them change for you, you are also going to change just a fact of life. You have to be willing to accept those changes over time as she will need to be able to do the same.

 

You want channel locks. She wants vice grips.
