I posted a few weeks ago that I was having trouble with really high gears in the rear in an '06 I had bought from a Toyota Dealer. They were very cool. But this "was" the 5th Toyota we have bought from them in 20 years.

Anyway, they "Exchanged" it because I couldn't get the Standard Trans Tacoma up my sorry excuse for a road to my house. It is full of pits, ruts, pot holes and bumps... I couldn't go less than 7mph up it without lugging the engine or sliding the clutch, and that was too fast for the condition of the road.

Anyway, NOW I have a '10 Tacoma, lower to the ground, but automatic and in excellent shape... I only lost $400 in the "exchange". I didn't have to "trade it in" so to speak, they gave me credit on the old truck!

    Thanks Toyota!!
    Bob

Sounds like he had an '06 regular cab 4 banger manual before this '10 regular cab 4 banger. Dunno if the '06 was 4x4 though. If it was, he got hosed. Ahhh it was a Prerunner... still got hosed going to the 5 lugger.

    It's not a prerunner. But a 5-lugger fleet truck.

Yeah... depending on mileage I'm think dealer won that one.

I would say if OP is happy with the deal then OP is the one who won. If the dealer made out good also, then good for them; that's why they are in business. What is importnat is that OP has a newer truck that meets his needs and put a smile on his face.
Congrats on the new truck OP!

    nothing cool
Agree. If both sides are happy then it's perfect. Dealerships usually don't do things unless they're making money on their end. And OP got a newer truck.

It sounds like he went from a 2006 Pee Runner reg cab to a 2010 5 lug access cab.

It sounds like a wash in terms of value.

Yeah, I'd rather have the AC cab vs. the reg cab anytime. I wouldn't care if it was a 5 lug.

Well said. If he is happy with it that's all that matters.

I love the look of a regular cab truck but couldn't go back to one.
