So there i am, sitting in line at the drive thru at Hardee's waiting on my biscuit, when my back passenger windwo shatters. There was a hole about an inch in diameter and a rock sitting on my back seat. Needless to say i was pretty pissed off. I'm not even going to repeat what i said since it could get me banned from the internet forever. When i looked behind me i didn't see anything but cars lined up. I couldnt figure out where the rock had come from. So i drove around behind the restaraunt and saw it.... a big industrial lawn mower behind a ridge cutting the grass. Apparently, while he was cutting the grass on the slope, a rock shot up, over his truck and trailer, over the cars benind me and straight trough my window. Litterally a one in a million shot. Anyway, the guy was very apologetic and cool about it but it still sucked that my 2 month old truck had a shattered window. The hole got bigger and bigger every time i hit a bump or closed the door. Insurance covered it with no charge to me so it was really no big deal, but it was expensive as hell if i had to pay for it myself. They can't replace just one pane. All three pains, including the slider are enclosed inside a frame so they have to replace the whole back window frame and glass. almost $600 if i had to pay myself. Anyway, no real point to the story but something bad happened to my baby so i thought i'd share it with you guys. Back to work....

Wow that is one in a million. At least the rock didn't hit anyone or you. Hopefully your truck will be back to normal soon!

Ok, so bad things happen to good people, but at least you are okay. Plus - it didn't hit your cab. It could have been so much more expensive if it had hit the cab right next to the upper brake light. Bent metal, paint ruined, etc...

Besides, now you get something back for all those years of paying for insurance... ;)

Amazing! Thankfully the velocity wasn't higher, and the angle different, you could be nursing a nasty knot on the back of the head......or worse.

Yeah, things could definately have been worse. My baby is fixed now. My insurance company sent someone out to my house and the had my truck vacumed and the window replaced in about an hour. I was impressed

wow! i'll repeat the same sentiment...thank goodness it only hit the window!

i'm curious tho, wouldn't the landscaping service cover the cost of the repair? i'm assuming they have insurance in place for accidents just like this. i'd be kinda bummed if i had to claim it on my own insurance.

I stopped and talked to the guy after i figured out what happened. He was very cool about it and very apologetic. He gave me all his information. The guy even asked if i needed his social security # and tried to give me some money on the spot as good faith and would give me more if i needed it. I have done manual labor most of my life so i felt bad for the guy. I told him we didn't have to bother with insurance unless he wanted to. I told him i would find out some info and get back to him. Anyway, after talking to my insurance company and triple checking the info i got, i found out that in my state, there is no deductible for glass damage, and no rate increase. I felt bad making the guy pay $600 when i could get it done for free. So the insurance company took care of it and i let the lawn dude off the hook. Now if it had been some jackass in a mercedes i would have taken him to the cleaners. But until now i have always been a manual labor kind of guy, so i felt for him. Us workin' stiff have to look out for one another.

That was a good move, I would've done the same thing. Us ordinary folk appreciate things like that! A glass loss is not something that should hurt you in the long run, anyway, in terms of your insurance.

I appreciate the compliments fellas. Truth is, i have a stressful job and have a hard enough time getting a good nights sleep. The last thing i need is a guilty concience from screwing over someone that didn't even do anything wrong in the first place. Lets all adhere to the golden rule.... i wouldn't want someone taking advantage of me so i don't take advantage of others.

He should have paid for it himself, or if he was a business, his business insurance should have covered it.

There's no way I'd want to file a claim for something that wasn't my fault.
