All Pro skids, rear bumper and sliders, Hidden winch mount with XRC 8000 winch. Dual Optima batteries with IBS combiner/isolator and solar. CMC. Auto sliding rear window mod, hidden CB, CVJ axles and plenty of other little mods.
Dang nice. Glad to hear the Border Patrol was slow. What's up with this AZ rain thing? Our trip was Oct - Nov. No mud to speak of, but we got stymied a bunch of places by the roads/trails just being gone.
The Camino is still on the list though. Probably a year away, but I think we're going to do it West to East, then throw in the Grand Staircase and the Mormon Trail for the trip home.

East San Diego county is different. We are separated from San Diego city by hills and we have blue skies all the time. I never have to deal with non-english speaking people around town. Very much redneckville. I moved inland to buy a home after 10 years of renting in Pacific Beach. Love it out here. Beach, Mountains and desert all just a short drive away. Great thing about a country this large is plenty of choices in climate and topography.

Thanks! I certainly try to get better with every photo I take. It's amazing how well peoples photos become when they take a step back and actually look at what they are about to shoot.

That is pretty bad ass, on the long list now for winter camping. I liked the look of the canvas type hunting tents, but this is way simpler and surely easier to setup. Had it in any fierce Wyo wind yet?

It's a great all around option for a tent. Light enough for me to pack it in to some high country but also big enough to be comfortable while truck camping. The stove is awesome but is limited in its own ways. Wood will burn fast so you can expect about an hour of heat before having to put in more logs. I just keep it going and right as I am about to fall asleep I stuff it full. I woke up half way through the night and just started it again and had coals in the morning. Chucked a tuff of dead grass and some logs and it was roaring in no time.

I managed to get it pitched in 50 mph gusts while at the mile. That was a learning experience in its own but the tent it held up well. Far better than previous ground tents I have had and worlds better than the RTT. I had issues with the stove due to how I set it up. I have since learned how to correctly set it up and it was solid in light 20mph ish winds. Curious to see how well it does in the stronger winds.

It's a pain to set up in wind. You have to pretty much stake out all the points and then insert the pole. If you only do 4 initial stake out points the wind will get under and rip out the stakes.

Its a toss up on conditions. On a perfect day, with no wind, good ground that will hold a stake and me on top of my game? Probably 10 minutes and less, if that. You stake out 4 points. Insert the center pole and stake out the rest. You only need 8 stakes for a strong pitch with light wind. I use as many as I can here because winds are often brutal and come randomly.

I am a slow moving guy that doesn't always do things in the most efficient order. So it can take me a bit longer to get it up. I don't time myself but it would be a bit longer than it took me to get the RTT up without the windows. Probably equal time to getting the windows up. And then equal time for the tipi and stove as it would be to add the annex to it. The stove is pretty simple as well. I can do that in about 5 minutes. I leave the stove assembled when truck camping so its as easy as getting the smoke stack up.

I still am not great at it though. Some guys can get the shelter up in 5 minutes easily.
