Yep, agreed, inspection is all about the emissions. Has anyone gotten pulled over for having lights? I once was pulled over and was then ticketed for having things hanging off of my rear view mirror. Disrupted my field of vision. I'm not looking for anymore just cause to get pulled over!

So you're saying I can leave the ratchet strap on through inspection? Awesome, been fine for months, so may as well leave it.

Oh I see. What dealership did you go to? I think I went to one on 23..can't remember, it was in January.

My frame is getting replaced, but I can still drive it. Hole on bottom of frame near driverside catConverter.

I went to Prestige in Ramsey. They've always been reliable when I needed something done, plus they are close.

Mine was one bad pothole away from serious damage. The tech didn't even need to hit it hard with the hammer for it to open a big hole.

What's the deal with the 2nd gen rust issues? It's typically by the cats right? Any particular years or all?

I like not having to zip tie a front plate onto my car for inspection anymore. It doesn't bother me on the truck though.

That's what I'm thinking. They probably bake the paint off the frame allowing rust to form

Maybe condensation can form when you have the cold frame next to a hot cat, idk, I'm getting a new frame, LCAs, and leafs.

My current LCAs have stock LBJ's, so new is nice and the bushings and can bolts are all frozen from previous owner.

New leafs will have a few chevy leafs added to each side for a better load bearing.

not completely true with the inspection only being emissions. they can still fail you for obvious safety issues, heavy smoke, bad oil/fluid leaks.

you should be fine with the accessory lights uncovered.

I need some help here. Should I just keep the rubber bushing in my Dakars and just get another set from the dealer or should I remove the rubber bushings and go with poly?

They came with the rubber bushing in the front. I was thinking about just pressing them out and going with poly on the front and the rear of the leaf springs.

You might be on to something with that thought. I'll the pictures I've seen of rotted second gens it's a v6 truck. The 4 bangers they only have one cat and its father down the exhaust away from the frame. I mean there could be rotted 4 cyl trucks out there but I haven't seen any yet.

They don't have poly bushings front and rear? Strange.

I'll have to start keeping an eye on it a little closer. I usually hit all the bare metal with spray paint a few times a year.

I might take them off you hands just let me know what you want for them. Do you have both sets or just the one.
