Ouch... Yeah I just dropped over 3 grand on mods for my truck not counting the light bars and powdercoating I still need to get. Time to replenish the truck fund.

Started on my platform tonight. Got it pretty much finished up. I got a role of marine carpet but couldn't finish it up because it was 36deg in south louisiana today........

    Materials:
    2- 10'x2"x4" boards
    2- 48"x96"x3/4" plywood
    1- 6'x8' "utility carpet
    1- multipurpose floor glue

    Platform Dimensions"
    - 57"x72"

    1) I cut the plywood into two identical 28.5" sheets (so they would be easy to remove)
    2) I cut the 2x4s so that i had four 57" boards. The measurement for the inset in the bed are 7" exactly. So two 2x4's fit very snugly side by side rather than using a 2x6.
    3) I cut a rectangle into the outer tailgate end of each board to accommodate the pillar that exist at the tailgate side of the bed.
    4) using no fasteners i laid everything in the bed and it fit very snugly and i going nowhere.

I didn't want to build anything too heavy or expensive so this fit the bill. This will be able to come in and out very easily if i need. I am very happy with the way its beginning. I didn't like that i had to buy two sheets of plywood though because the bed is 57"x72" so a 48"x96" sheet won't cover it cleanly. I think all of the materials cost me about $115. The carpet is some marine grade utility carpet that is made for shops, garages, boats, campers, etc. Its perfect because it was sold in 6x8 rolls. Hopfully finish it up by this week and be ready to camp this weekend! :woot::burnrubber:

ragincajun, really sick truck man. Are you still using your stock UCA's? I didn't see where you posted that you had aftermarket ones. Did you have any issues with alignment?

Nice topper. You will love having it for sure. The windoors make a world of difference.

Yea I'm still running the stock UCA. I don't have any problems with alignment. I think the camber they have a little trouble with but if you bring it to a good mechanic they can get it.

Dude camper shell without windoors..... i dk how people do it. I use the windoors prob just as much as i use the rear hatch. I should have done the camper shell right from the start. Every tacoma should have a shell on it.
