So I have been messing around with tritium and titanium recently and have received a lot of interest. These are titanium paracord beads and titanium fobs with tritium vials inserted in them.











Here is the first one I made for Rick

I wanted to keep these affordable, but because the tritium is so expensive and such a pain to acquire, they will cost more than I had hoped. Right now I only have the green and ice blue tritium, both can be seen in the photos. The fob is $60 and the bead is $120. I can torch them or leave them raw titanium. If I flame them, I can get the ti to turn gold, deep blue, light blue, and deep purple. Please keep in mind I have very limited amounts of tritium on hand, and because of legal issues I can only order small amount from Europe.

who do you get tritium from? All the places I have found were out of the states and shipping blew

 

Yep. I found a shop in UK who is willing to ship them to me in small amounts so there is less chance/risk of them getting seized in customs or something...
And those small amounts still cost me over $300... Pretty big risk I'm taking for these.

Half life is 12 years, so after that they will start to fade slowly. Nice thing is with the ones I make, after they fade, you can replace the vial. Unlike the ones that are sealed in acrylic.

The pics cant show how deep the colors are. The purple in person looks amazing. Almost like those pearlescent chameleon painted cars

 

I'll take two of the deep purple! I know it'll be a while but when it starts to fade does the trit just slide out? Realistically I've already got my money's with and could just pick up another one from you.

The vials are glued in with a tiny drop of super thin CA that gets sucked in the tiny space between the holder and the glass. I tried to remove one that got glued in a little off. I tired soaking it in acetone, lacquer thinner, nail polish remover, and even bought CA solvent. Nothing worked. I finally had to break it with a drive pin punch and clean out the glass and CA on the lathe with a drill.

 

Wish I found this before I ripped mine off and shattered it to pieces wheelin.... Oh well.
