TRD Catback Exhaust Stock?

Hi,

I apologize for the stupid question in advance but I feel I've exhausted my search efforts.

Does anyone know if the 2013 TRD Sport DCLB comes with a TRD catback exhaust from factory? Or will I need to purchase separately?

Your 13 already has a good mandrel bent 2.5 exhaust from the cat back. All that $4-500 will buy you is the muffler. Just get a muffler welded in and pocket the difference. Unless you think you need a 3" exhaust, its a bit of a waste of $$$.

Gotcha, good to know. Im open to researching the perfect muffler, im not stuck on the TRD catback. I just hate to get stuck with one that drones all through the cab.

Ill search through the archives to get a better idea of what sounds the cleanest.

Yeah, can't handle drone myself. I tried a TRD a few years ago, and wasn't happy with it, IMO sounded ricey at idle and just off idle and it did drone in my cab at about 2200. Above that though, great sound, just didn't spend enough time above 2500 to be worhtwhile. Tried a Magnaflow dropin next, it had a bit of a drone at 2000-2500, so ran that for a while, then had a Borla drop-in welded in place of the Magnaflow. Still has a slight drone, but best of the three.

Drone is very subjective, one person's drone, doesn't bother anyone else. Also can't hear drone in sound clips. Good luck.

 

had a borla on my older truck but decided to pocket $400 of it on my new truck and bought an aero turbine muffler that has an internal resonator. no rasp and i think sounds better than the borla.

I've read somewhere that the TRD is the only exhaust that's been dynotested for a HP increase (7hp iirc). It's also less droney than many other mufflers.

 

I am interested in one shipped for that price also.

 

If there was it was probably using an older Gen 2 with the 2.25 stock catback. Also, any HP gains are WAY up high in the range, not useful for daily driving (probably?)

BTW for others, Toyota started putting 2.5 stock catbacks on instead of 2.25 somewhere around 11-12 model year if I recall correctly.

 

I don't really think it does much unless you add the SC; that's why I have it.
