    Ahh. I never thought of that.

    Ok.. So I think I understand it quite a bit more now. Couple more questions though...

    Sam has her coils preloaded to even her truck out. If she were to go with longer coils to get rid of the preload, the UCA would still look the same right? As in it won't be level as if she wasn't lifted like my truck. Stupid question I'm sure, but I just want to make sure because that is what I thought preload was when I first found out about it.

    Second question... I'm looking to lift my truck. I should just go and build my own coilovers so I can just get longer coils to lift my truck and not worry about preload. That would be 'smarter' correct? I'm looking for about 2" lift and still a nice ride. I dislike the way Sam's rig rides because (I'm assuming due to the preload) it feels like whenever she takes a speed bump or similar fast, her shocks 'shoot' down and then are stiff when the truck hits the ground again. I don't know if I explained that well. But it's weird. So I'm looking to have a overall smoother ride through the cycle of the shocks.


    Have you checked the CEL code? What was it?

    Yep exactly, the preload is just how much tension is on the spring with no load, or how pre compressed the spring is

    I think if you speak to the places like SDHQ, Downsouth, etc they can get the spring you want on the first try, so that way you dont need to buy a complete shock THEN swap springs

    Might want to check your diff. I'm not sure 100% what the years were, but 09 and prior TRD Sport's came with a torsen based mechanical LSD's. But I dont think they started that with 05. I hope it's not a diff, but that's what happened to my M3 before I sheared the ring gear completely off.
