He's talking about the kind under your truck. I think I would just run strip lighting like they do for bed lights.

 

The only thing I don't like about the pods is they never seem to really light the area up all that well. They work great for right under them but after that only seems to ~2ft out or so. Would work fine for just walking around the truck though and the remote would be nice on the Vison X, turn them off sleeping and be able to turn them on from the RTT

I was thinking of just getting some led pod type lights. Have them mounted at each corner and face them under the truck...ie so passenger rear lights up the passenger front, driver front lights up driver rear. But I don't know how well that would really work. But being brighter than pods you could tuck them up higher and protect them a bit better.

The LED strips (like in the bed) might work. Id have to looks at the truck a bit more and see if theres a good way to mount them

 

Oh okay I see what you mean. I just remembered I habe 4 extra pods I'm not using (2 flood 2 spot beam although the spots are more flood) I wonder how they would do under, I can try them this weekend and find out. That would be the cheapest for me, plus I have an extra wiring harness from my roof light bar. Why didn't I think of this sooner they all have deutsch connectors on them so I'm just thinking the best way to connect all 4 to one switch.

 

Check these out Kolt. I got these for my dad and we put them on his superduty as reverse lights, they light up our entire cul de sac. Waterproof for us, had them on a year now and no moisture in them.

Be curious to see how they work! Be nice if they could be aimed and work well enough to light up say a nice 10' area around the truck.

Those Vison X pods would work good enough Im sure but some additional lighting would be nice.....well and not having ot shell out to much for it!

 

Anybody here in the Wenatchee area?

 

The Vision X ones some pictures show it as a spot beam and some show it more as a flood so im not sure. Im thinking how to mount those pods, 2 on each side and then maybe that 6 inch led bar straight down in the middle in the back, or 2 Ill have to do some test stuff when I get my truck back.

I did look at those originally but was comparing the ratings And preferred the ones that I linked.
6" 18w 1530 lumen vs 8" 30w 2520 lumen. Plus I like the design a bit better.

I looked into rock lights and was going to get the visionx kit but like dakota said I would most likely just get the waterproof led strip for under the truck. I have them installed in my bed and canopy, soon to be me hood and don't see any issues with under the truck.

Oh okay. I thought about the strips but I feel like they wouldn't stay on very well over time. Is there a good spot to mount the bar in the back?

 

Every time I buy the strips I buy a roll of 3M permanent adhesive tape. Remove the crap tape and add permanent tape.

And those LED bars that you posted earlier in the very back, like between the spar tire and hitch somewhere to get light out the back of the truck

 

Not sure if you guys posted these already, but I've considered them as rock/undercarriage lighting...though that is pretty much an afterthought for me:

They are BRIGHT and rotate around, so I can shoot the light out from the bed and illuminate the whole area behind the truck

All it needs is a 6" section of clear flat area. I can't think of a spot off the top of my head but I am sure it wouldn't be too hard.

How would you mount those?

 

Find or drill a hole, stick it in, tighten down the nut.

I would suggest using the 9w over the 3w though if you really want to light up the area.

I just looked up the Vision X kit and it is only 1 watt lights. That seems pretty weak.
