    The uv5r that RL got is replaced by the bff8 picturee above. They are practically identical though except the model numbers. These were about 35 each and supposedly have the new chipset but no real change. Ive used the gt mark III which is basically the fancy looking version of these and it really impressed me. A $15 antenna upgrade and it outperformed my Yeasu 7900 base in my truck. I was hitting great distance and clarity in Mojave with it. And the battery lasts FOREVER! i put like 6 to 8 hours of constant use on it and it was barely going down. For the price its great backup. If you want it to be your main unit just upgrade the antenna

    Got a quote for some of those for 687 mounted balanced, with care.
    Bfgs 2. $900. Looking for thicker sidewall, supposedly the new ones have 3 side walls Layes

    I don't really off-road much but I've taken on the Mojove trail and holy Jim a few times and the desert a couple times but I've had no issues. I'll be getting these again soon. They aren't loud. They're nice and quiet
