i max out maybe once every 6 month. i never work past 95%, max rep deadlift is just asking for trouble, muscle fatigue and form breakdown is a recipe for snap city.

I always stay in my hypertrophy range (6-15 reps). I've never gotten into doing 50 reps or anything crazy like that. I have done some stuff like the GVT where you do 10 sets of 10. I've just never been turned on by super high reps. Might as well do Crossfit lol

 I loved it, but if I could go back, I would've just done 3 full-body workouts a week, just to try it out and see if I would've made mo' gains

I just saw this recipe for protein brownies on ON's Instagram; everything looks good about it, except it's got black beans in it for some reason :notsure: Never heard of it and it sounds disgusting, but I'm gonna at least try it.

Never posted on this thread before but I have creeped on it often. My situation, long story short I broke my wrist, it is now in a cast and I need to figure out some upper body type workouts I can do. Have search the Internet a lot over the past 3.5 week and haven't found much. Meanwhile I have done legs and cardio but have lost roughly 11 pounds since I stopped training with weights and it is literally all muscle loss lol
I am going crazy now that my routine has been broken and getting this cast yesterday makes me wonder how nasty it will get when I sweat in it too ha.

your wrist does a lot in weight lifting, at this point all you can do is isolation work on machines.

And I may do 100 rep deadlift day once every 6 months as well. It was 60% weight. Form doesn't go to shit at that range, not for me. No matter how fatigued I am.

I didn't click on the link, but I bet you like them. I've had bean pies at farmer's markets here locally, and they're literally pie crust full of what I'm guessing is pureed beans with seasonings you'd normally expect in a pie, and they're hands down some of the best pies I've ever had.

First saw bean pie and I was like.. wtf. Had a bite, and holy shit was it good, now it's one of my favorite treat and way healthier than normal pie, which I'm not a fan of in the first place. Definitely a situation where it can be better than you'd initially think.

I'm not gonna debate that but will say the Crossfit pull-ups aren't really.

Just sick of it and the lifestyle it has grown into. I realized a lot of the people I know from the gym have no life outside of it. They care to much about counting calories and recovery to do anything else. I am just going to use that hour or so and enjoy a walk outside or get some homework done so I can get the dog in the truck and hit the mountains every weekend.

I mean its kind of depressing to have one of the highlights of your day be going to the gym. I never once looked at someone that was super muscular and said "wow, I wish I could be just like him. However I constantly say that to some average joe's picture on facebook holding a monster trout or someone posting a picture on top of a mountain they just conquered. Just because they actually got out and did something. So many better things to do with an hour out of the day than go into an artificially lit box and watch a bunch of people gawk at themselves in the mirror.

I am not just going to stop working out. Ill still run, hike, ruck, etc. Push ups in the morning and before bed. When its warm again Ill knock out some bench and squats with my weights but I am done with the gym life. Just bugs the shit out of me now days.

There's a lot stuff you don't wanna do while the bone heals. If you are lucky and don't need surgery, let it heal.

 I'll try them for sure now!

I agree. Although, I do count macros and spend about 5 hrs a week in the gym, it's not my life. I still eat crap every now and then, drink when I want to drink (which is most weekends), fish, etc. I'd never pick the gym over a good time. I just always make sure to get my gym time done before the weekend (and all the fun) begins.

I can agree that it's a routine and sometimes routines can be a drag. There are nights I don't want to lift but know myself too well to think I can just take a cheat day or 2..that will turn into not doing shit for a long time.

I was at a casino since Monday night and while it felt a little odd to not lift, the slots and card tables took my mind off it. I did hit the hotel gym and use the machines I don't normally have access to.

Wish I wrote it all down but I got up to 250x10 on leg presses. Pretty proud of that one since my knees suck. Did 90x10 on abs machine, 110x10 on pulldowns and 60x10 on flys as other peaks..I started off with lower weight and did 10 reps, then bumped it 20 pounds at a time till I felt like I could do no more on a set of 10. I know there's more I did but can't recall..

You also compete. That a bit different and something I understand. Just like going to the gym in the mornings for football or wrestling...there is a purpose to it.

It may just be the University Gym getting on my nerves.
