    Yeah right,
I was a dealer tech, we had a lot of customer complaints about the BS the sales people would use to sell the cars, we got the complaints and had to resolve the issues to keep the customer happy.
Matter of fact, when I bought my new truck, I had to explain to the salesman which models had skewps, and long beds
Never did get a follow up call from him either! weak:(

I understand what you're saying, and actually agree with you. My truck that I just ordered, I probably could have played multiple dealers off of each other and gotten a few hundred bucks lower on the price. But the salesman I'm working with has been awesome - up front on pricing (invoice less rebates and incentives without even haggling), ordered exactly what I wanted, waived my deposit, and has kept me up to date on every step of the process.

To me, that's worth something, and he deserved my business. And as a result, this has been the best car purchase experience I've ever had.

    welcome the sales field, Jim

Sure does... you claim you're entitled to customers paying you more, due to doing thing for them after the sale...just trying to understand what... so what do you do for them?

    What amount, exactly?

    Jeez
    typical DB sales comment!
With out the techs, sell all you can, whos going to keep them running, not you guys, you act like sales people need a lot of training;)
I went to tech schools, and had to constantly stay updated on new products, TSBs, and recalls, and buy my own tools!

    This is true...

...myself and my family do not need or want a salesman... just a finance manager to write up the sale. We know what we're paying before we leave the house to go to the dealer

I probably could have saved about $250 by spending a few days going back and forth with dealers.

That being said, I am getting a few accessories for dealer cost, and all fees waived, so maybe it breaks even.

Would I give up $1,000 or something? No, but a great salesman can be worth a few hundred bucks.

    I respectfully disagree.

    Here's why:

Our salesmen know by giving us what we want, gets them:
    -us returning for future sales
-us referring clients their way (we even get referral checks in the mail, which we cash and send back to our salesmen)

...that alone is worth more than say that $250 (which you don't even know went into the salesman's pocket)

I don't quite understand what you're saying. You're implying that a salesman is "getting me" by providing good customer service, which makes me want to send more business his way? Isn't that kinda how business works?

    Not at all.

Just saying you don't need to over pay, or feel the need to pay more for good service.

You providing them referrals is payment enough for their service, that's how business work... more customers, more revenue.

It's what Tesla has been trying to do, but they get blocked in some states.

Of course, Toyota isn't stupid. They will price vehicles as high as they think the market will bear. If mfr-direct sales ever become a reality, most likely you'll be paying MSRP all the time with no room to haggle. You see this with auto parts today. For example, first time I ordered Icon wipers from Bosch directly. Then I learned they were about 60% more expensive than Rock Auto...

The Tacoma is Straight stock at the moment
Over the last few months looking at multiple trucks I ended up talking with a friend of mine that owns a new car dealership, not Toyota brand. Hd told me that eventually he sees dealers becoming more like CarMax.
The customer picks, chooses online, shows up gets vehicle.
That the sales force will be on a much smaller scale, low to no haggle etc.
he said the CarMax way, different as it is, is successful, and manufacturers have taken notice.

How true, I don't know. I do know when I looked at my local CarMax locations the people were friendly, zero pressure to buy, etc. I do know my friend is pretty forthcoming and has always dealt honestly with me.
