I have an appt to get this done but dont want the rear to be higher than it is. And if so think it would snoball into 5100s in front and so on.Anyone that has had this done and settled is it worth worrying about or just get it done?

just get it done. It's only like an inch or so higher and it will settle a bit in a while. It's not much of a difference. Mostly you can call there is a bigger gap between the rear wheel and the fender but other than that it looks pretty much the same imo.

The TSB is NOT a cosmetic swap.
If you are having problems with the load capacity of your truck then who cares about the height of the rear end.
If you are not having problems- Then don't get it done.

Not much difference, just a slightly firmer ride and increased capacity. I'd get it done again.

I got the TSB done for my 07 4door TRD Tacoma. I already had the ToyTech ultimate lift on the truck, this included the Rear Long Bliss shocks and add a leaf. My truck still would bottom out so i go the TSB done. The add a leaf did not fit the new springs so it was removed. Springs are better but truck is uneven now about 1 1/2 to 2 inchs. Called toytech and they have a new add a leaf for the new TSB springs. I will have to buy them to get the truck back to an even level. Make sure if you get TSB done that they put the correct set of leafs on. There should be 4 leafs on each side, three up and one overload. At first they did the job but put the wrong set of leafs on and i told them and showed them a picture from this web site and they corrected the problem. Also i am getting the TSB for the weak tail gate done.

That's terrible. I'd demand a free rental car and an oil change for your inconvenience! Since the dealership gets reimbursed for the swapping under a Toyota issued TSB warranty repair, I don't see why they'd bother trying to short you. I would think they'd have to now eat the labor for the goof up.

BTW, had mine done and have no complaints.

this is the TSB and 5100s set at .85.
the tsb rasied my back 1.5 inches, but about a week later when i went to install the 5100s i remeasured the back and it was only 1 inch higher. so that why i set the front at .85.
so basically the truck sits about a inch higher, the truck is slightly firmer, drives very well, and i have no problems with the 265/75R16 i installed afterwards.
if they are offering to the tsb, DO IT. the new set up makes the truck firmer, better to carry loads, gives you a little lift. All this for free.

Just get it done....It drives better, handles nicer, feels better.

I put 200lbs of sandbags in my bed for about 3 months (it was winter time) after I had the TSB done and it settled perfectly!! No leveling required.

I'd post a picture but our damn hosting company relocated to some new servers and now our photo gallery isn't working if you click on the thumbnails (I'm pissed).

Do it. Also, after you start putting some weight back there for a bit it will settle the height down a bit.

    do it.

I bet money they didn't actually READ the TSB... Took me 2 trips to get it done too, they replaced the 3pack with the 4 pack, but the first time they put a new set of the old TSB'd shocks on...

I had to argue with them about it, call Toyota USA, and then the dealership elevated it to the Customer Relations, who said I was a little confused, and claimed that only the TRD's got the TRD shocks...... I said I didn't believe anyone was actually taking the time to read the TSB because it clearly states that the TRD's dont get any shocks, and Non-TRD's get the blistens... Few days later she calls back and appologizes and literally says.. "yes, I guess we weren't reading it closely enough"... Got a free oil change.. At least they finally admitted their mistake.. The people where mostly pleasant to deal with at least, but it was obvious to me the service managers were in too much of a hurry, and since I had the TSB in hand each time I showed up, it became evident to me, they weren't paying attention to the details...

The TSB also states that a front end alignment should be done too, but I've read some posts where the dealer didn't bother with that either. I mentioned all of the details about my expectations when I dropped my truck off. I didn't want to sound like an ass about it, but unfortunately I think you have to do due diligence yourself with these things to avoid problems.

Not meaning to threadjack, but that is the size of tire I am looking at when I am ready for new tires. I was wondering if the 265/75/R16 will rub without any lift? Just the factory bils and four leaf pack that you get with the tsb? Any impact on MPG?

im debating the same thing. im too late for the tsb but i might get a custom 1" aal just for the extra lift and load capability. i do not haul anything. i might one day but can't gurantee. the most ive had in the bed of the truck is some luggage while going down to the beach. not sure if i wanna get er or not.

Alignment is only done on the non TRD trucks. Since the TRD's don't get new shocks, they don't get an alignment. Not sure if that was the issue, but....

As of right now, I'm not going to do it. I loaded my truck with as much landscaping material as I would ever haul and loaded my truck down with a weeks worth of vacation luggage and I don't think it moved much. It certainly didn't hit the bump stops at any time. I know a lot of the tacos on the site haul dirt bikes, quads, boats and I've seen some pretty good sized camping trailers, this TSB is something that should have come from the factory for these folks.

Alignment applies either way. See excerpt from the TSB below. My truck needed an alignment anyways, so I paid close attention to this detail. :)
