Nice! I'm gonna try to get down to Chattanooga this spring for some MTB rides. I've been before but didn't have my bike with me.

So anyone know of any places of camp along the CA coast? Wanted to take my girl up to Big Sur over spring break but it looks like finding a spot is near impossible. Live in SD so don't want to do somewhere like San Elijo, I want to actually leave the city. Doesn't have to be coastal but somewhere that the weather is nice. She's not to the avid camper so somewhere that has restrooms would be nice as well. Any recommendations?

There is Jalama, but good luck, as this Gem of a spot is now well known.
Lopez Lake is nice, up in the hills above Pismo Beach.
You can camp in the Figueroa Mtns. above Solvang.
    Rose Lake above Ojai.
Best one if you can get a spot: Montana de Oro, just south of Morro Bay.
Carpinteria State beach, if you like sardine-can like camping.

Myself, the best spots are out in the desert where you can find great spots with no-one around for miles.... But it's not near the coast. I would go with a "rough" plan, or back-up camp sites, but plan to just wing it... find a spot you like and spend the night.

Thanks. That little TD is so easy to hookup and pull. It's really convenient. Queen size mattress inside and a galley in the back. I've camped in it when it was in the single digits with lots of wind. Much nicer than a tent in those conditions.

So far I've added an Advance folding bed cover and since removed it. Gave it to my son in Maine, he has an 05 2wd. GT perfect fit seat covers. Weathertech floor mats and window vent visors. Waag center brush/grill guard. Hose clamp tailgate mod. Turned off the seat belt chime. Added Ultra-Gauge. Trailer hitch. Softopper. Replaced sun visors with slide out style. Toyota bed extender. Had Firestone Destinations and now Michelin LTX AT2 in stock size. More mods to come; Fog lights, locking storage in bed, intermittent wipers. Now looking for Radio/HU upgrade. and maybe a lift way down the road.
Hey Slapmackie. Just sent you a PM about your teardrop. Hope you can help me out.
    Thanks.

If you don't mind a little cold, I like to head up to Idyllwild occasionally. MT. San Jacinto SP is a gem, IMO, and less than 2 hours drive. Not too many people up there this time of year either. Great hiking and rugged feel, not far from home. One of my fav's.

Can't wait to start truck camping. I have been reading and flipping through all of these post and getting really inspired. I've started thinking of ideas to make a raised wooden bed platform for my '11 double cab. I want mine to be a original in design and can't wait for the snow to slow down to start this epic project.

Might look into it, the pic with my truck is up at Mt. Laguna and I love that type of camping but not sure if my girl will be able to withstand the cold
