Having just acquired a 2008, I was torn between the '08 which is equipped just as I wanted, or wait for the '09 with the new safety features. I went '08 even though I know the '09's would only be a few hundred more after a few months of being on the market. The main reason was you don't get something for nothing. To add all these safety features at price level of only a few hundred, to remain competitive on price, I just know that other less visible and tangible items will have to be of lower quality. There are no free lunches.

i was thinking...i know toyota supposedly has a5 year cycle for new models ans such....but it dosent make to much sense doing all of these improvements to this model for just 1 model year...i think theyre going to keep this basic truck on for at least 5 more years...besides...its already way better than the competition...or lack there of at this point...and with the 09's it should get even better:D...and if im not mistaken weren't the first gen tacos almost the same as the "second" gen ones? just different lights, bumpers, etc and a few drivetrain tweaks?
    but thats just my opinion

My dealer is getting an 09 standard cab in about two weeks. They should be full steam in production now.

When I bought my 08 I was offered heated cloth seats, leather or heated leather seats. I was also offered in-dash navigtion and remote start (if I would have purchased an automatic). These would have been dealer installed items, but being purchased and installed through them would be just as good as being factory I would think.

After having black leathers seats in a car with no AC I'm happy to go back to cloth for now. I might keep an eye out for the new tails and headlamps, I don't care much for the pink tint on the tails.

I bought an '08 with Leather. The leather's gray and look great with the IR paint. However, I feel like a rolling contradiction with leather seats in a 4x4 truck. I haven't had to wash mud off of the seats yet, but I'm sure I'll feel silly doing it.

I think all of the leather options were done by the dealer.

I agree! I want a back-up camera. I'm not afraid to 'tap' what I'm backing into if need be, but I don't like to make it a common practice. Plus, its just dang handy.

Any mention of variable speed intermittent wipers as standard equipment? (like every other vehicle maker.....)Or do you have to pay extra for a trim level that includes worthless stuff for a truck?

    Huntington Beach Toyota.
The first one will be a standard cab. They are on the way shortly, im sure your dealers will have them too. Talk to the fleet/internet guys instead of the floor vultures.

so we can get the 09' with navigation or is that not an option? and will the dealers put the remote start on it and have a warranty?

Damn it !!! I wanted a green taco, but could not find one, Son of a Bitch !! I am in too deep now, way upside down. I hope my truck didn't hear me, I'll have to make it up and give it some some fuel additive.

I wished there were Cooled seats along with heated seats.

If another vent from the dash could be routed to the seat, and blow COLD AIR on my back and butt, I would be happy. June, July & August in Alabama would be nicer if I had that.

    Had anyone thought of that?
