Up close you can see quite a few blemishes, but overall I'm still really happy with the install. It was pretty straight forward. I feel for you guys with pre-2012 second gens that have to use bondo. Thanks for the kit and write up Craig!

One weird issue is that the top of the grill is a little swollen now, and doesn't sit flush with the hood. Oh well, I'll get over it.

Of course now I want to put something behind the grill like a set of Hella Supertones, but I'm concerned they don't sound like enough of a truck horn.

I dig it. Really makes me wish I had a color matched grill instead of a chrome one. What option package gets rid of the chrome?

SR5 is color matched I believe, as is the Sport package. I bought a color matched grill from a dealer for around $200. I should have just bought the surround, but whatever. This way I had a back up in case I royally screwed up the grill modification.

You may be able to resolve the swollen grill by loosening some of the screws that hold the mesh onto the insert and either let the insert settle to where it is happy or if it doesn't do that then maybe look at what direction the insert would need to go for it to make the grill line up with the hood then deflect it that way and tighten the screws back down. If it got to bugging you I'm sure it could be resolved with a little effort. Nice grill, I did the same on mine! Did you go with TOYOTA lettering or TACOMA?

Thanks, I'll give that a try in a couple of days if it doesn't settle down on its own. I went with no letters, just wanted more of the low key look. I do like the "pressed in" TACOMA letters though.

SR5 adds a chrome grill from the off-black but not grey grill surround of the base models. TRD Sport is the only package with a color matched grill surround.

    Looks great, John. Congrats.

TRD Sport & SR package are the only two with color matched grill surround, I believe, at least for 2015.

I had a little TRD emblem I got off ebay on the original grill. I might add it but the screws are already rusted to hell since NYC salts like there is no tomorrow.
