A few years back i bought a single base model tacoma(2008). after having it for a year or so i sold it and bought a 2013 silverado. my main reason was I wanted more room with the tacoma being just a regular cab. Now I'm looking at switching back. Im looking at the true 4 door and a extended cab. Does the extended cab have room enough in the back for my 14 year old 5' 9" and 140 pounds, and my 7 year old daughter. Im 6'1" and 210 pounds,my wife 5'4" 110. The extended cab is cheaper but don't know if its enough to tote them around every once in a while. My silver ado handles it no problem but I'm not really satisfied with the chevy. also,is 125k on a tacoma room for any concern? anything I should be looking for at that mileage, anything to expect? Thank you guys.

IMO the AC has room for a gym bag and a dog. If you're going to put humans in the back, get the double cab.

Double Cab all the way, has enough room, take them on a test drive

looks like a good deal. my main concern is mileage, there is 125k on this truck. What can i expect maintenance wise now and in the near future? I've never had a high mileage vehicle.

I'd love to see the condition of the rear diff fluid, let alone the other fluids. Figure 2k to "fix" the truck. Have the front wheel bearings been replaced? Tune up done? New shocks? Check the rear springs have been replaced under their recall.

Lay under the truck to see if the driveshaft u-joints have ever been lubed then push up on the driveshaft near the center bearing- there shouldn't be much if any movement of the bearing.

If you could swing it and at the end of the day IMO you could almost buy a new truck with a warranty and enjoy the next 8-10 years before anything really goes wrong.

Don't get me wrong, the truck is ok but you may start replacing parts that end up costing you what a new truck would cost anyway (give or take) and without the aggravation.

Good luck what ever you decide!

If you are comfortable with it, go for it. Follow your gut.

I had the TRD DCSB and could fit my wife, one kid (at the time) and 2 of her friends in there.
There's always the Tundra if you want more room ;)

You need a double cab, not an access cab. Your kids have more to grow.

Tell us more about your Silverado and why your not satisfied with it. I've had thoughts of going back to Chevy/GMC fullsize since I think my MPG's would be about the same.

You miss going back to the dealer for repairs, huh?... I guess don't blame you.

Buy a Chevy and keep the mechanics well fed. ;)

I agree. Anyone over 5 ft tall is gonna feel (at least it looks like to me) cramped back there. A short 15 - 20 min trip across town ok, but not good any real length of time. My grandkids (3 & 4 yrs old) do fine. My niece and younger/smaller nephews were ok riding back there this past Summer when they visited; in my opinion, none of the Access/extended cab rear seats are comfortable for any real length of time because the backrest is the straight up and down vertical rear cab wall with some padding. I'll be replacing my Tacoma in 3-5 yrs probably; when I do it'll definitely be a double cab, since all the kids will be bigger by then. That's my 2 cents.
