So after my first winter on the stock tires I realized they are absolute garbage in any snow or ice even with 4wd and purchased some new Nitto Terra Grapplers on sale for $415 for all 4. Now that the warmer weather is coming up and only 3700 miles on my truck am wondering should I just keep the stock tires and return (at no charge) the Nittos and save the $400? Or go ahead and mount the Nittos? Thoughts? Thanks, Zach

I've heard very good reviews of the terra grapplers. However... if it was me, I'd use the stockies until they ran out of tread.

My truck has 11,200 miles now and the stock tires look new still. I live in SoCal, so I have yet to drive on any ice with them, but I have driven in slushy snow and sand with no issues at all.

When they do wear out, I will likely get the terra grapplers.

My OEMs bit the dust at 21k miles, so you've got a lot of potential life in them. I'd run the OEMs!

I'm still running my stock tires, currently have 43k miles still probably have another 10k out of them. If I were you I would just use the stocks up.

I run my stock bridgestones in the winter on a set of scratched up trd sport wheels, then I swap to my revo 2's in the summer with my powder coated sport wheels. I have had no issues with my stock bridgestones this winter I was able to get out and go even with 8 inches of snow on the ground.

Sell your old tires on Craigslist list for 2-300 and recover the cost for the better tires.

I'm in the same boat, sort of... I still have the stock Dunlop's on and they were total SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT this winter. Will keep them on for summer and then get a set of winter tires next season. Can't believe how garbage these were in the snow.

How were the Nitto's in the snow/ice?

Nittos are sitting in kitchen right now, but have heard nothing but great reviews and had a set of 285's on my last taco lifted and were great tires, just trying to be budget conscious so second guessing my upset/possible impulse buy. The bridgestone's are fine when not in the ice/snow, its not that they don't grab, they just slip horribly from a dead start.

If you're budget conscious, I'd say send 'em back, keep the stock tires on with the warm weather coming and save up for something next winter if you need it.

You paid $400 you'll never get a deal like that again. I'd keep them

Can you sell the Nitto's instead or returning? Or sell the OEMs?

Thinking about selling the OEMs since they are rather new and looks like they retail for $160-$175. Probably ask $300 for all 4.

I ditched the stock bridgestones at 14k for a set of bfgs. I ended up getting $175 out of the stockers on CL, and a rebate card from bfg for $70 for a promotion they were running, which brought the price down to around 700 for the set. If I could have gotten a set for 400 then sold my takeoffs to recoup almost half that cost, I wouldn't even think about it. I'd just do it.

That's a great deal on the nittos. Wrap em up...run the stockies all summer and mount em next thanksgiving.

I put duratracs on my truck late January and told myself if I did that we wouldn't get any more snow. Well 5+ or so of snow later I was wayyyy off base. Best decision I ever made was to ditch the stockers for duratracs. The confidence I gained in the foul weather is incredible. That being said I think you're safe or close to it for this winter. Beat those stockers up for the summer but lose em next fall. These northeast winters are no joke anymore.
