    1998 Tacoma 4x4 3.4L Auto
    Deaver j59 pack 2.5 SAW coilovers, rear bilstein 5100's. Extened stainless rear brake line, deck plate mod, drop in K&N filter, Kenwood headunit & pioneer speakers, SnugTop Shell.
    Anyone know if i can swap in a tundra 4.7L engine and 5 speed manual or 4 speed auto into my tacoma. I have the 3.4L right now. What kind of price am i looking at, and would it just swap right in or would i have to overhaul the whole truck to make it work? Any input is appreciated.

    With enough money, you can swap in any engine you want. Its a completely different engine, so it wont "Drop right in."

    i know that its possible to fit a chevy 350 into an early '90s taco, but i'm not sure about a '98

    You can "Fit" any engine you want, it all depends on how much work you want to do.

    I knew it wouldn't go right in but i was hoping it would be easier than say a chevy 350.

    I would think that it would be far more difficult than a Chevy V8. Computer issues, and all. It would be a neat project, but would be quite complex.

    It should be a little more easy. Maybe just reinforce the frame, swap the computer, new engine and tranny mounts, new tranny, Might have to mover the radiator forward a little. Then, just route the vacuum lines, and such, and BAM....Finished. Good chance Im over simplifying it.

    the 4.7 is only 270 hp. 350 would be easier the get aftermarket parts for (cam, carb, ignition set, etc.). Even a TBS, oh yeah, I went there...........:devil:

    Yeah, but you would need the comp, exhaust (same for the bowtie), harness, miscellaneous items.

    I think all in all it would be just about the same "hassle".
