Any specific reason to order and not just go to the LGS and pick one up? Ive found if you aren't looking for something specific that its generally just as cheap to go to the LGS...unless you have an in with a FFL and odnt get charged sales tax.

I personally stick to Mega or Rainier Arms (rebranded mega basically). Im a bit picky when it comes to who I buy from though.

Does anyone have any experiances with 80% lower jigs? Any brands to stay away from?

Look on slickguns.com there was a deal on there the other day for 2 lowers for 89.00.

Here is a video of the recoil of the 458 Socom firing a 405 grain bullet. That is like firing a 12 gauge weight wise. Put a meat grinder between the rifle and the shoulder and you begin to see where the bruises came from.

Just installed a Velocity 3# trigger in my grendel... Wow best AR Trigger I have ever felt. Do yourself a favor if you want a zero travel target/hunting trigger this is it!

I like tactical machining's lowers but not their jigs. Their lowers are nice quality and basic. To me I'd stay away from the crazy looking ones for finishing as they might not fit in a jig. I cant remember the name of my jig but any with the extra top plate that sets up the drill holes. This plate makes the machining so much faster. I have the tactical machining jig as well and it gets the job done but no where near as fast. Expect to spend about 4 hours your first one making sure everything is right and about 2 hours for all others. Might want to order two lowers in case you mess up (pretty hard to do with a good jig) or for your next, yes you build one you will build more! Just sneek up on the final floor cut depth so you don't go through. It has to be deep enough to let the trigger move and the selector function.

It's a leupold Mark AR not sure the model or whatever on the scope mount but it is a leupold. I think I'm gonna look for a different mount not sure I like how high it sets.

I was gonna go to the antler club to shoot tomorrow but didn't know if I could get back there with all the snow (last year they didn't plow it). So I'm shooting at by buddies place. If you wanna shoot some time let me know! I'll be down!

Thanks for the advice. I have a few already that I got and I have been looking for the best quality/user friendly jig. There seems to be quite a few options out there and I was just looking for some real world experiences.

Here's mine in its latest (and almost final) configuration:

    ImageUploadedByTapatalk1425093346.304102.jpg

I built it piece by piece, starting with the stripped lower in 2008. I finally added the current optic last month.

    DPMS stripped lower
    RRA LPK
RRA NM trigger (May get a 4.5# CMC)
    Magpul MOE grip
Magpul STR stock (getting replaced with a SL at some point)
    Daniel Defense DDM4 V7 upper
    Surefire ProComp 556 brake
    Trijicon TA11 (3.5x35, green crosshairs, 5.56 BDC)

I plan to do another lightweight upper and a 6.5 Grendel upper.

Currently I'm building an LR-308 based rifle.

    Close up of the brake:

    Very nice!

If you ever are in the market for a lightweight lower to build check out 2A Armament. I could not be more impressed with their Balios Light lowers and other titanium accessories. The fitment is precise and the finish is beautiful.
Here is one of them I completed and is now under 6 lbs with the ACOG and 30 round mag.

That Acog is a boat anchor too! That's a cool rifle. What is the bbl length? Also, why is the optic so far back? I'm a nose to the charging handle kind of guy, just curious.
