Are the traffic and weather apps dependent on an XM radio subscription? They aren't much of a priority to me anyway, but a salesman told me they were not dependent on the XM subscription and I'm getting the feeling they probably are.

On a side note, the traffic app seems kind of pointless. Is there really no way to zoom or pan the map? And I haven't gone far with my truck yet, but I've yet to see it recenter the map based on where I'm at. Even if I'm out toward the edge of the map, I'm getting the same display.

The weather and traffic are not dependent on XM radio. They use HD radio to do that. I think that there are local radio stations that broadcast that information digitally, then is extracted by the unit. When getting to some remote areas, the signal is lost and the data not updated, or becomes unavailable.
The maps on mine do move with me, and can be zoomed. There should be a + and - on the screen to zoom. It doesn't "pinch" like the newer multi-touch screens, so can't be zoomed that way or by double clicking. I am not sure why it isn't following you around. Maybe next time you start your truck, just watch the map without doing anything to it.

I don't remember seeing a + or - on the screen. I'll check when I leave in a little bit. There are a couple of scroll arrows that just shift the map up and down slightly, but it seems to give me only one or two notches north and south.

Its been a while since Ive used it, but Im pretty sure the traffic will run through Entune if you have your phone connected (not bluetooth, needs to be through the USB if i remember correctly).

The traffic and weather on the Entune plus are HD radio sourced and in the 4 weeks I had mine I never found a way to make the traffic useful.
Got the Nav from FLTrucks and now traffic is always up on my maps mand easy to see and alerts are available as to what is going on around me. Best $450 I've spent.

I haven't had the truck long, I'll get to reading the book for the media system eventually. ;)

I confirmed tonight I definitely don't have zoom buttons on the map.

I don't have the premium system, does that make a difference? I was going through the manual today, didn't find the answers I'm looking for so far.

My 2015 came with Entune Plus not premium and in my area I had a small map on the screen and an arrow to the right that let me go up or down but only 2 parts of SoCal showed up.
HD radio feeds this even with the Premium Nav unit.
Depending on whether or not the area is developed enough to have HD.
Out in the sticks patchy signal.

I don't have nav. I'm just referring to the map on the traffic screen.

Yep, that's what I have as well. I guess I'll pretty much just write that feature off as useless.

I have better options on my phone anyway, but it would have been nice to make use of the larger screen built into the dash.
