alpines supercharger?

    afe pro-dry s filter, LCE headers, painted black steelies,color matched grill surround, URD short shifter, UWS black tool box
    i noticed Alpine is getting ready to come out with a supercharger kit for 05-09 2.7, does anyone know how hard it is to tune these things or are they just bolt on and roll. im half temped to get one just wanna know what im up against before i put my order in, and if it will mess with my mpg?

    of course it will. you are adding a HUGE power upgrade, so when you are WOT you will use much more air and FUEL. makes sense, right?

    Im not sure what the second gen 2.7 has for fuel managment, but on my 2000, it was really easy to do the required fuel mods.

    Absolutly. Generally, you want to have an AF ratio of 12 to 1 if boosted. The injectors on the stock second gen 2.7 should be up to the task of a little bit of boost. Maybe around 5 to 6 psi without issue. Alpine produces a solid product, and they are pretty well known for covering all the bases with their kits.

    kool man. so the stock 2.7L injectors are up to the task of mild boost...lets say 6 psi? My stock Prelude injectors require 100+ psi of fuel (100% duty cylcle) to properly fuel my 6 psi supercharger. Soon to be changed with much better injectors and going back to 40-50 psi of fuel.

    I never had any problems with my stock pump. I know the 3.4 guys had to upgrade theirs, but I was running close to 7 psi with no issue. I belive the Alpine unit is going to use the 62 cui mangunson SC. It doesnt heat up the air at 6 psi too much, so I cant see fuel upgrades being needed. BUT...I have yet to see one of these on a second gen, so Im just speculating.

    Idk, I just don't see how ANY factory NA injector can handle boost without a rising rate fuel pressure regulator. My Honda factory injectors can handle a 10-20% increase in air flow, but thats about it...not enough to support a blower imo.

    btw, all my knowledge and experience is related to my honda prelude, so I could be way off the mark here.

    The Alpine kit I had, had a rising rate fuel regulator. The more boost it gave, the more fuel dumped into the engine.

    ^^^ok...same as my prelude setup with the stock Jackson Racing supercharger kit. It's not ideal though. I much rather have injectors runing at 70-80% duty cycle and capable of fueling the airflow. I see/feel/have alot of issues running my RRFPR. I can't wait to dump it!

    come visit me in cali and feel what 8000 rpm feels like BOOSTED and bouncing off the rev limiter.
    you keep thinking thats all its got........but no, its got more~~~~~~~~~~~~

    10:1 compression, 8000 rpm reving, 2.2L BOOSTED 4 banger! It's a blast at WOT.

    LOL...I have been in some pretty wicked powerfull rides, as well as some pretty tuned 4 bangers. I know what they feel like. :)

    on board is a must imo.

    ok... I give in, you're not impressed with my blown 4cyl. bottom line, we agree on the fact that proper/safe tuning and the right amount of fuel is key :)................................and adding a supercharger WILL increase your WOT mpg.

    OP, after I installed teh Alpine SC, My mpg's, overall, dropped about 2 mpg. HOWEVER, I found my self useing the throttle a little more. :)
