My sweet Annie. I just had to put her down after 12 years of wonderful companionship. She was my running partner and I estimate she and I have run about 15,000 miles together.
RIP sweet girl.

I try to take Riley to play with his pal Joseph once and a while. The yellow lab is Joe.



I'd steal Joe in a heartbeat. He's a great dog.

I'm sorry for your loss Steve, it is one of the hardest things in life to do for me and most people and doesn't any easier with each dog over the years believe it or not. The 12 years she owned you will always be in your thoughts and I have a feeling the two of you were very blessed to have had each other.

It isn't so much that beagles can be butt heads at times IMO as it is that pups can be jerks without any self preservation skills no matter the breed. It is always tricky bringing in a new dog or especially a pup with older dogs where pack order is already established. Puppies will push the limits beyond what they should or at least what we think they should, and vet bills can be the results so your doing well and the right thing in my experience.

I have to agree that a beagles favorite radio station is WIFM, whats in it for me. Last family dog I had was a beagle springer mix but the beagle trumped all other genes and traits. I built brush piles around the property to hold rabbits for her to chase and loved listening to her bay as she ran them. I grew up with beagles and my grandfather first introduced me to them, have always appreciated the breed. You have some great looking dogs there!

 

The latest addition to our family is this guy who thinks he can drive better than I can. We've named him Molson, and he's a German Shepard Australian Shepard mix.
