Tired of your TRD Pro sitting low in the rear

I have a 2015 TRD Pro DC and it sat a little low in the rear when I got it. Now after 3000 miles, trailer hitch, Pace Edwards cover, folding bed extender and a full tank of gas the truck sit 1/2-3/4 lower in the rear that in the front (measurement taken from tire to wheel well opening).

My wife was following home one night and she said your truck looks beefy in the front and scared in the rear. Since most people are looking at it from the rear since the Super Charger, I knew I had to fix this.

So I started my research of new spring, add a leafs, progressive springs and blocks. All I found was pros and cons to all the above with no one being 100% happy with any of them. I also only wanted to add about an 1" to keep the truck even to slightly higher in the rear and maintain the ride.

I decided to go with Low Range Off Roads 7/8" blocks that have a 1 degree tapper and use U bolts that are the same thread as the factory U Bolts. I am very happy with the results, now my truck sits 1/2 taller in the rear depending on how much gas I have in the truck.

Now it looks beefy all the way around.

    Interesting.

I just bought my 2015 about a week ago and I had the same thought, it seems like it sits lower in the rear. I would consider lifting 1" but I'm afraid of screwing with the drive shaft angles.

Should had gone add a leaf progressive man. It would had gotten rid of that dreaded axle wrap I'm sure that you have since you have that go fast TRD blower and need to apply those brakes harder, more often. Lol.

I have found that the factory 4 pack is just not up to par unless it is using 7 leafs instead of the 4. The only disadvantage to that would be obviously that since now you are running 7 leafs, the leaf pack is a total of 2.25" tall if you got a 1.5" progressive mini pack.

Changed driveline angle about 8 degrees with 1" high 1 degree tapered blocks.

Did it change the ride with the progressive leafs and did you have to cut the leaf spring retainers to make the progressives leafs fit?

I went with the wheelers 2in single aal to compliment the 3+1 leaf pack on my 2013 TRD or to compliment the ~2 in lift I have in the front. I have right at an inch of rake to the front and the ride is far better than stock. The single aal is going to be stiffer than a progressive aal but it will handle loads better which is what I needed.

Right but equally, the single AAL will not be able to flex and absorb and distribute the load anywhere as equallyl as a mini pack would 3 leaf will.

FYI the 2in single leaf AAL is longer than any 3 leaf progressive pack, providing more support by spreading more load across the original leaf pack. This also helps with axle wrap more as the single leaf is longer again spreading more load across more of the orignal pack. Also the overload spring still works as designed due to the fact it contacts the AAL as it would on the original pack, where as with the 3 leaf progressive pack, the overload contacts the pack later in its up travel by nature of the smaller and smaller leafs before the over load on the 3 leaf pack.

She flexes fine, full droop of the shock to full bump without issue. and in fact i have more flex than a 3 leaf progressive pack due to the less thickness of the single leaf vs the 3 leaf AAL.

Eh, it's minor and not really an issue to me. In fact it may not even be higher, I'm just going by the look. Could be my 2007 just sat a little higher in the back and I'm used to that look. When I had a leaf break I replaced both sides with new HD packs from General Spring.

How is your 2" add a leaf "thinner" then a 1.5" mini pack?

Contacting the pack later on is not necessarily a bad thing, especially when you are doing the AAL to maximize up travel. Just thinking out loud here.

My 2015 TRD Pro had the infamous "Taco Squat" the moment I had the camper shell installed(2 days after purchase). My correction for the issue was the Icon Progressive Rate AAL. Now I have no more problem and no worries about prematurely fatigueing the springs with lift blocks...

3 leafs of thickness vs just one.

the overload contacting the pack later means more time spent negative arching the springs, which is bad. Uptravel is still maximized if you can hit bump... which i can without issue.

If you are obtaining so much travel you have negative arch, its not a large problem unless you are negatively arching over two inches. Then you risk breakage of the pack and/ or early fatigue.

well yes at bump you hit negative arch... but the overload spring supports the pack earlier on with the single AAL vs the progressive pack.

Could you post a picture of how it looks now with the 7/8" block installed and are you satisfied with ride quality.

I appreciated your post about the blocks. I just ordered them. Why is there so much dialogue for the much more complicated option? Is it thought the blocks create an increased stress point? Will a loaded TRD Pro on volcanic ash covered ranch roads make this option foolish?

You have found some great loot. You might like this tacoma loot I found; a seat cover via costco, the Coverking Veloci-Vent custom fit seat covers and from weathertech direct, weathertech's floor mats.

I have had the truck for 4 days and its handled my ranch roads easily as well as my land rover defender. I drove by Precision Toyota and saw and instantly appreciated the TRD Pro's ground clearance. I basically bought it the day after, having never driven or ridden in a Tacoma that was newer than my friend Dave's 1983. What a great truck. What a great surprise. I am ordering the blower tomorrow. The ride reminds me of the direct feeling I had with my Golf Country.

Do you know if the ARB front bull bar kit, ARB Winch Bar 2012-2014 Tacoma with fog light recess ARB3423140 will fit the TRD Pro?
