Yup, plate bumper Diesel engine and it's much better deal for off-roading than 2016 tacoma. There is a crap of aftermarket for them too. That truck will become next love for offroading guys,

brand new Taco owner and previous Kia Soul owner, they rock and my trade of a Ford- sport trac was worth it but...... yep, long story...... I could have bought any new truck and chose the 15 Taco over eh -eh well everything else... 16 Taco, not available and way new. I had a Chevy S-10 and when the wiper controller was two months out of recall they told me to deal with it :( Living in Florida and your wipers stop for no reason sucks... just sayin... I digress..... the new Canyon which I could get a family discount and the famous "I know someone" discount is still 35k for what I would want and honestly it's not a proven new truck. Yep I have a dated, old, stupid,..... Tacoma 15. I'll live with it for a long while.

For all who is craving diesels - diesel engine exhaust is classified as cat. 1 cancerogenic substance.

Unfortunately, if you driving one exposure is inevitable. And if you bring it home it is not only you..

So -yes, Toyota does save lives by refusing to bring diesel to NA.

On the subject - I have bought my 2015 Tacoma three weeks ago. As due diligence I also test drove a Colorado.

Was not shocked with all the "refinements" - typical GM interior look and feel. Ride is OK, not stellar. As fo the looks (the way they bend tin) - whimsical no doubt, but hardly important (to me anyway). The price was actually higher than comparable Tacoma.

For a first production year vehicle made by a company I had some bad experience before it was a nobrainer.

Is it a flop? At that price point looks very much so.

    Cheers.

I'm in the market for a new truck myself and a Canyon ext cab would fit the bill just about perfectly but I've been closely following the twins on the forum. I see a lot of (I hope) first year bugs. Onstar failures, water intrusion issues, HVAC issues, hood flutter issues, and some others. I can't afford to be without a vehicle because its at the dealer being fixed for something that so many others sat in QC for extended periods of time.

I will keep my current Tacoma in the mean time and put $$ into it until I can either trust the GM products, or until the new 3rd gen Taco is released, and tested and dealers have the ability to get some, or until the new Ridgeline is released with details.

So, new tires, new brakes, (just did a tune up) new steering wheel cover, new shift knob , and some other things will be done to hold me over. 97k miles and counting.

I have had a Ford Ranger, Ford F150 and a Toyota Tacoma. My Tacoma has been for the most part maintenance free up to the current 49,000 miles. Its a TRD Sport 2010 and to be fair I never took it off road. It did a kick ass job one winter when the highways were not plowed and I was coming home from work but thats another story. I decided I wanted a new truck with bluetooth, better stereo, more creature comforts. I was in the window of good trade in value and did not want what was basically the same truck I bought 5 years ago with a screen in the console. When I went to the Chevy dealer on Tuesday there was a Z71 on the lot and another coming in the next day, when I went there Saturday to order from the factory, both were sold. It is impossible to find one in the Northeast in the configuration I wanted. Ordered a Z71 pretty loaded and am pretty excited. I have had a chevy before and it was pretty solid vehicle. I hope my Colorado treats me as well as the Toyota did but only time will tell.

Since they've been around I've seen two in communities I run around in. My area is littered with ford and chevy 1/2 tons.

If you read the Chevy/GMC forums you'll find that exhaust in the cabin is not that uncommon a thing with these trucks :)

And Diesel exhaust is in fact super horrible stuff compared to IC gasoline exhaust. Becoming a problem in Europe and certain cities banning or restricting Diesel because of the unique pollution problems it presents.

I bet the EPA would love the chance to tax the trucking industry for using diesel fuel all in the name of health.

My story similar to yours. I ordered a Canyon SLT 2WD, don't need 4WD in South Carolina. My Tacoma has been a great truck, but I too wanted something more refined with a better ride and features. I waited till I saw the new Tacoma before I placed an order, but the new Tacoma didn't really excite me very much. I still can't believe they are coming out with a new model with "DRUM BRAKES". The Tacoma will be the only new truck on the market with drum brakes?

The brand new Chevy twins with rotors have a stopping distance of 124' and the current Tacoma with drum brakes stops at 126'. The new Tacoma will most likely have a stopping distance better than the current Tacoma even with drums.

I never said anything horrible about it. My cousin's on his second one, he has over 250,000 miles on it. Sure, it's worn out like an old hooker but it still does the job. My 250,000 mile 4runner was just in significantly better shape at the same age (lets call her helen mirren). :D They are definitely longer lasting than most domestics, but they have their issues just like a toyota / anything else.

    Watch your "F" words !!! :)

Sorry lol, but there were definitely a few guys who didn't like me comparing a 1st generation Tacoma to the last generation Ranger. I totally agree that the Ranger is no where near as refined as any of the Tacoma's. It did just fine offroad and onroad for me though and the price was much lower than the Tacoma.
