Snowshoeing Saturday and Sunday. Probably put 15 miles on over the course of both days; my quads are pretty stiff this morning, haha! And yesterday afternoon all the dog wanted to do was sleep on the couch. It was nice to have a whole weekend with temps that were at least close to freezing and sunny rather than 10 degrees and windy.

Packed the truck, drove to new hampshire, unpacked the truck, ate dinner, repacked the truck, and drove back home in one day. Baby stomach bugs are fun. :cookiemonster:

Ye Olde School Faber wood and catgut shoes; a set of 14X48's.

I've got a set of the newer Tubbs hiking style snowshoes as well, but the Fabers work so much better for breaking trail in deep powder that they're the only ones I've used this year. The hiking shoes sink in too far when you're breaking trail in deep snow to be efficient for the winter we've had this year, whereas the Fabers let you float over it. You have to walk like you took a dump in your pants, but you don't sink in more than a few inches, so it's totally worth it.

Blech. Especially since the last stomach-bug infested baby I saw was randomly exploding out of both ends.
Hope the kid's feeling better today, for both your sake's.

Snowshoeing/backpacking up the white mountains. I have a bunch more shots on my camera that I haven't processed yet. Did maybe 10 miles over 2 days, a good majority of which s was climbing up 45+ deg slopes. Was -24 when we woke up Saturday, but only -15 when we woke up Sunday. Like doing a stairmaster all day with a pack on. Quads got their butt kicked this weekend. Couldn't have asked for better weather during the days though. Sunny and 20 deg with very little wind. Most of the time I didn't have to wear a hat out my heavy gloves.

Typical grade up canon mountain. Friends friend was behind me with just rental snowshoes from rei. He definitely had a hard time with no climbing bars, basically on his hands and knees for a lot of the ascent.

On our way home yesterday. This on up on lonesome lake. 2355aa2569ba50ebcfe3958ed36003af_2d9ecea08d107a3d06b81b199cf7dc51ca475843.jpg

Looks like you guys had a pretty good-sized crew, Seth! Biggest crowd I've ever gotten for a winter camping trip has been 3 people (plus a 1-day visit from my GF, who isn't a big fan of snow, winter, the cold, etc)

Well sounds like almost everyone had a good weekend. Erik how is Cara feeling now? Hope she's feeling better! I feel terrible when they go through that. I would much rather be sick than to see the littles go through it.

Haha ya, there were 5 of us. 3 of us we knew would come, the other 2 were friends of one of the other guys. They were a tossup. They had never done anything like this even in the summer time. They had mostly rental gear, we were a little concerned but at the end of the day they trucked through and did fine. Though one of them did not have a pack, fortunately I had a 15yr old external frame pack collecting dust in my basement that I brought for him. All in all a great time. Also, it's just do damn gorgeous up there, especially at sunset/ sunrise
