Is The 2015 Chevy Colorado In Danger Of Becoming A Failed Experiment?

They probably did somethign crazy like make frame even thinner to save weight from al lthe extra things.
They were reducing payload to like 100LB just because people ordered chrome tubes.
With leather seats and everything payload should be -500LB .

I have seen ONE and I drive interstates almost 30 to work 5 days a week. When I first saw it in my right mirror I thought it was a Silverado. I do not think the dealers have much inventory yet in the Dallas area.

 

Don't tell these guys that 18 wheelers use drum brakes to stop nearly 80,000lbs...they'll shit themselves.

 

Apples to hand grenades comparison there. For the 2016 model year, the Toyota Tacoma will be the only pickup truck in America with rear drum brakes and the reason for that is _________.

It's been that way for a while. And the Tacoma is still the best truck on the market right now. Where was that point you were trying to make?

 

Yeah but 18 wheelers dont drive through mud, snow higher than half of the wheel, beach sand, ocean spray, water when rear is pulling a boat from the ramp, they also don't rely on the brakes for traction control.

P.S. Search for people who end up with rear brake locked and blowed rear differential.

They didn't give a suck job to there differential after they locked up the rear .

 

Some may have, guy that got stuck in Canadian outback, defnetly considered all the options to get truck out of ther.
Bottom line the only people who don't see a value of rear discs are the people who bought truck for looks, that and dealer was out of pink colored Prius on the purchase day.
The rest of us buy trucks because we need trucks.
I just destroyed my 4wd on my CRV. Trying to get home, in the snow.
Oh well that's what happens when you don't have real transfer case.

I don't need full size, I need better midsize, and Toyota decided to build micro size looking like midsize.

 

You'd be the only guy on this forum that wants the Tacoma to GET BIGGER.

You know what a bigger Tacoma is called? A Tundra . Get one or something like it.

Believe Toyota is being cheap, not having rear disk on the Taco.

 

I'm going to laugh when Toyota brings rear discs out in the rear one day in the Tacoma. Then this can end.

Trust me, you aren't going to notice the rear drums on a Tacoma. The mushy brake feeling is common to most trucks. You should drive my 2014 3/4 ton Dodge. Mushy doesn't even begin to describe the brakes. There are much more important things to look at when choosing a truck other than 4 disc brakes.

 

Why would that effect anything? Curious, first time I heard that.

Colorado has rear disks, payload is just a little more than the Taco.

 

Rear disks aren't huge for me, a lot of other things has the 2016 Tacoma low on the list for me.

I have been a loyal Toyota owner for 25 years now...they are loosing me. Haven't been real impressed with the direction they have been heading. Better options out there now, imo.

 

Sure, I can see how there are better options for some things. For my wife I think she'll like the Colorado over the new Tacoma simply because the ride and options are more tuned towards someone like her in a Colorado. If you're looking for comfort options or Diesel for the sake of Diesel I can see the Colorado making sense. Offroad I still think the Tacoma has a better pedigree, but that remains to be proven until all the suspension support is out for both trucks. Stock the TRD OR is still going to smoke the Z71 off pavement.

The people that make me are the people who think a 4 banger Diesel and rear disc brakes are going to make the Colorado tow 7000 lbs like a beast or 1000 lbs of payload like a boss. The truck is to light for that. Those people should be looking at a bigger truck with a bigger footprint, not a smaller truck that is still going to have trouble controlling heavy loads.

 

They are cheap and they work just fine.

 

I did not say bigger, I said better.
Current size is fine, all it needs is more payload, more towing. That means better frame too.

The people that make me are the people who think .... The truck is to light for that.

If I can tow 50 000 lb behind 17000 lb W900 than sure as hell I can tow 8000 lb behind 4900 lb truck.
People who think 4900lb truck is too light to tow 8000lb trailer with brakes are ... <insert correct word here>

 

Or ....Toyota knows most of their buyers are too stupid to know the difference.
Especially people who live in places that do not see snow, freezing temperatures and whos biggest Offroading achievement is conquering mall curb.
