I've been in a relationship for 6 years. No kids though. Getting married in Sept. Luckily for me, she loves the gym too and we workout together from time to time, too

Most people who go to the gym have full-time jobs and a lot of them have families, as well. 4-5 hrs a week is nothing.

What's your guys thoughts on exercises for a very obese person?
Focus on light weight/high rep compound lifts or focus more on accessory type stuff, like machines and cables until he builds some strength?

my 350+lb friend is trying to lose weight and Im trying to get a routine set up for him, but his size makes things like dls and squats difficult

Having him do rack pulls and do a lot of cable work until his mobility improves but I'm debating whether to focus on compounds more

I hear ya, I am also trying to gain weight. Coming from 150# ecto pussy ass bitch (still a pussy ass bitch btw) I could bench 90#, squat was #100 and deadlift was barely #115.

Now I am looking at about #235, #400, and #445. Been lifting almost 3 years.

I'm a small guy too.. My bench is about 135, squat is only 115, and I don't know about deadlift. But once spring break is over I hope to add 50# to each of those and call it good

I was 305 before I started my lifestyle change, my first 40 lbs was all diet change (took 4 months) and my latest 20 lbs have been diet and body weight exercises with cardio (been working out since the end of December).

PM me if you have any questions, if I can't help with my personal experience I can ask my trainer.

    so mainly cardio so far?

I have a lot of experience with weight loss, but not weight loss on this scale, starting from his level of strength

I've had him start an actual diet, and am having him do start on cardio, just trying to figure out a gym routine

I'd have him stick to BW movements but there isn't much he can do because of the weight and how he's been a couch potato for the past decade, and he just bought a gym membership so I'm looking for stuff to get him to do
