Hopefully soon, had to clearance the front cv. Got it turning 35* in all directions so hoping thats enough to not bind now. Gonna try to get the other slider on this weekend with the rear shocks and maybe anti wrap bar. Then its mostly chasing leaks.

This is why I can't buy an 80 series. I'll just look at this and think how inadequate it is..

I'll just wait till Max inevitably sells this 2 months after its finished  :D

    God I hope not haa.

Theres a lot o be said for built 80 axles And 37s though. With some lower gears, locked, and maybe some suspension changes these things are beasts. Maybe not hardcore crawlers but definitely get you through some stuff.

Idk I wouldn't mind one on stock axles, locked, chromos, 37s, battlement fab radius arms, coilovers, probably leave the rear alone except smooth bodies, armor, and all the bling offroad and expo crap and go! And theres dudes working on a crawl box so thatd be even better! Half of the battle is just upkeep on these things. The 1fz is good but for the head gasket. Do some arps and a gasket. Delete rear heater. Rebuild front axle. Do all the regular gas motor maitenance, change fluids and go.

Perfect summary of an 80 series. Tell me more about the battlement radius arms. I haven't heard of those.

It's not a bolt on type kit but a generic fab it yourself kit. Battlement fab out of Grand Junction makes em pretty sweet, and they're running them on a lot of rigs over there so they're pretty tested. Flex like mad, and should handle a lot better than a 3 link on the street. There's some link gemoetry crap that makes a 3 or 4 link potentially better for climbs and such. If I were doing more of a stock set up I think I'd just radius arm a cruiser with some 12" coilovers.

We're going to set up my roommates 96 3/4 cummins with radius arms/14s.

Theres a few threads on TTORA, Pirate, etc... I think they'd be perfect for an 80. With the hi pinion you can add a little caster without dipping the pinion too low. They'd flex great. Ride great. No clearance issues. That's just my opinion. I like my 3 link, my 80 tracks straight, doesn't wander, drives decent up to 90+ mph on 40s, but those battlement fab arms really got me thinking...

80s are great if you have the time, money, and knowledge to fix their issues. I know I've bashed them in the past but it's really more owners who buy a 20 year old vehicle and then whine how hard it is and how much it costs them to get everything up to snuff when they have no background or experience in such a thing. They're solid rigs but they're old now and most have a fair amount of miles so there are plenty of things to address on most rigs you'd find for sale. Great exploring, wheeling, hunting rigs though with the right setup and care.

    I just wanted something... cummins.

Wish I could tell what kind of difference this Intercooler setup makes. Doesn't seem like much though!

Entertaining either just a water/meth injection kit or maybe getting crazy and finding a way to fit and air to air. Or maybe nothing. But it's in the way of the valves and it just makes an extra mess of shit so... wish I could tell what it was doing.
