Other than duals coming out the back, has anyone moved the location of the exhaust pipes in the back?

I ask because my cousin has his pipes on his chevy turn down after the muffler so you really don't see them- he has about 9 inches of lift. I just don't know how this would affect you going off-road, and being in high water or whatever. (not him but us with 0-3inches of lift). Is the current location better for offroading? It seems like duals coming out of the back would be worse because of backing into things? IDK....

I hate the black soot? that comes out the exhaust and gets all over the white 4x4 lettering on my rear mudflaps, it gets on my truck body too, near the rear bumper a little. It is a pain in the arse to scrub it off the mudflap. Trivial, but I searched and didn't see what I was looking for.

It seems strange to have so much sooty carbon coming from your exhaust. Sounds like your engine is running rich, not burning everything. This does not happen with my '06 V6 at all. I have very little carbon around the end of the pipe. That is all I see.

hmm...that sucks. I don't think it really gets on the side of the truck as bad as the mudflap. It's like moisture from the exhaust drips out carrying the soot. I wonder if I need a tuneup or something- But I think it did this since I got it? Wonder if it would help to run premium fuel. I do sometimes but alternate.

Just went to a local muffler shop- I'm gonna get them to cut my exhaust pipe and turn it down. They suggested to do it at the hanger. They are gonna charge $30.00 or so. I'll post some pics of it when they get done.

It really doesn't change the sound (loudness) at all. Silverseven has his chopped and turned down at the axle.

^^^ Ah cool- the shop suggested cutting it at "B". I wondered about "A" or even before "A" like that guy posted up there about dumping it at the axle. I just don't want that soot draining on anything else- well, I'm sure it wouldnt hurt anything....

I tried to find a pick of Silvers but he doesn't have one in his gallery.

I have the same problem I have TRD exhaust and my mud flap and the bottom side of the bed both have the black carbon on it. I usually take some rubbing compound to remove it and it does a good job on the paint but not on the mud flaps. My white lettering is pretty much gone.

Ah, well thanks anyhow- without having to get a turn down put in (since the way we are saying is pointing down after the axle) they said it would be <$20.00

    less $ is better :)

Yeah, it happens to everyone I talk to so far- I was afraid of loosing the white lettering. You should get it cut! ;)

5100's all around, fronts at 1.75". TSB leaf pack + Toytec TSB AAL
I think just before point A in the photo above would be ideal too.

A couple of my concerns would be heat coming out affecting anything (underside of the bed, etc?). Also the lack of support since you'll be losing support from the hangar at point B in the above picture? Is it still supported or does it move/bounce around?

^^^NICE. I really like how you moved the crossover. I was noticing how low it is on my truck while I was checking everything out.
