That's a good looking trailer. I take it you got rid of it though? I've been looking at building up a 5x10 cargo trailer like some of the builds over on expedition portal. That way I could lock the bikes and stuff up and leave it as a base camp trailer or even camp in it. A guy with a jeep drug one modified with 33 or 35 inch tires over engineer pass.

Yah, I was still in school so I couldn't use it much. I planned to sell it before I built it, I just needed to move all my stuff from AZ to CO and renting a uhaul was too easy :p. It was a fun project and I loved it the few times I used it properly.

What kind of paint are you guys using on bare metal? What kind of prep did you do? How is it holding up?

I need to pain the rear bumper for the Taco. No powder coating yet as I might need to make changes to it.

get as much of the slag off as possible, then i used rustolium self etching primer followed by rustolium professional flat black and seems to hold up well

I do clean, primer, then rustoleum bed coating.

Seems to hold up well. I do a few thick coats usually.

Don't do just the rustoleum it doesn't hold up well, I don't think mine were prepped at all seeing how they have not held up. Kinda a bummer since I went and dropped them off a week prior to install. Ive gotta sand them down and redo it.

I just spray and keep spraying as it chips/wears off. Eventually it starts to stick pretty well. Definitely a less pro-active approach.

Brian, if it is just for a quick cover to protect it, any primer and paint will do. But if you need it to hold up. Just like Phil suggested with the self etching primer and eastwood sells a chassis spray paint that I use for my frame work and i'm pretty impressed with how well it held up to me putting and removing my bed from the frame several times. Just another option.

I use scotch Brite and a cleaner that leaves no residue (numerous kinds) then I use a self etching primer, a few coats. Then I use rustoleum professional. There is a difference... mine always comes out great and lasts.

I realize you're talking about motorcycles, but I believe you also mentioned bicycles recently. Woot currently has some decent deals on hitch bike racks.

That's a good price. Cheap prices on the Yakima roof bags too. Last time we ordered from them we ended up with an led tv on our door step with our order....We never ordered a tv....

That doesn't sound like a complaint.
