whatever was on the road was melting fast. we came up to a real slick spot up on the hill. I thought my rig was going over....I don't think I have ever held my breath that long..lol.....Jason should start a recovering business, "Jason's Auto recovering, we will pull you out, or your ass is grass" :)

Yeah, last time we went to Loon over Wentworth with all that ice, I had an "oh shit" moment driving home via Ice House. Was passing over sections of ice but hit a long downhill with a loooong patch of ice (and I know how to drive on it). Absolutely no traction whatsoever. Had to let myself pick up speed and not touch a thing waiting for the other end of the patch. Me no likey ice! We had some bad ice in Pollock about 8 years ago. I was on the road where it was flat in 4wd doing 10 mph sliding all over the place. Tons of accidents when that happens.

yea, ice is freaking scary! On one of our snow trips a few years ago (I think DEC 2013??) Kevin was leading and he lost traction going up a hill near Georgetown. He started sliding back, I panicked, then I started sliding back. I thought I was going to end up on top of Jason. My rig did a complete 180 down that hill, I had no choice but to ride it out...YIKES!!

Ferny was right about the turn. We went left that is Wentworth springs rd right is loon lake dam rd. Wentworth goes west of the dam and ends on the back side of loon. And is part of the first leg of the con. Were the con starts now is the end of that leg. It is keep kinda hidden but the Rubicon really starts at uncle toms.but that leg is or was closed not sure if they ever reopened it but I no its closed this time of yr because of mud and snow.

Earlier this winter I went to Sequoia nf for some snow wheeling, everything was iced over luckily there were snow ruts so it was like a roller coaster. Even with chains on and 4wd I was still sliding going 10 mph.

Thinking we should do a trip to Ice House and the rigs that want to try the rubicon... Well let's go... We would definitely have to limit the number of trucks actually going threw at one time... I know I am not the only one that's been threw it and you all understand where I am coming from... I wouldn't mine going multiple times either.

And of course... Your truck has to be pretty well set up.. Granted. I have been half way threw the rubicon in my stock Trd taco.. But I also spent a lot of hours on that trail

Yea. If that's yours. Your good!! Truly know there is only a couple hairy spots you can't avoid... Big sluice and caddy hill. Caddy hill I would def recommend looking read and big sluices has a big rock you have to drop off(I Ruined my gas tank in my 98 TJ with 33's and 4 inch lift.) there are a couple of tight spots that you would want sliders as well. sooo you got to goooooo slow!!! Other then that all the hard "cool" parts by passes.

The big rock in Big Sluice is gone. They redid part of that trail couple of years ago. You can now make the left hand turn down Big Sluice without having to do a 3-point turn.
