People seem to underestimate how heavy these trucks really are especially loaded.

Is anyone making a Dana 60 that's a direct replacement for our rears. I seem to remember someone saying there was one coming to market. Maybe TrailReady or ECGS

Please don't hate but my thoughts on 37's are that in a few years you will deeply regret ever going beyond a 32"

    Currie is. http://store.sdhqoffroad.com/toyotafjtacomacruiserrockjockiiirearendunit-boltindana60.aspx

Although I personally think there are much stronger options out there for less coin. It's really hard to beat Diamond axle prices for what you get. I really like mine, and so far zero issues. Also you can lighten our trucks up a lot pretty easily. I had mine down to 4000lbs wet at one point, although I'm sure it a little more now. My FJ80 weighs closer to 6K...and it does fine on the 8" front axle. There are stronger options for sure, but it's an interesting note none the less.

I've had them for a few years, 50K miles or so. I do not regret it, but 37's aren't for everyone. If you don't take your truck in the dirt it makes zero sense. If you take the road less traveled it's something to consider.

Not to get all philosophical on you but 37"s are all consuming...they are a way of life; they can be a huge well of joy...but....priorities change and that, my friend, is when they become a pit of despair.

Beware of the costs...beware of the future and above all...be true to yourself.

If 37's are indeed your callings, then God Bless.

Thats a sweet rear end! Ruff Stuff makes a similar front or rear for a 8", 9.5 & 10.5 tundra but im not educated enough to know what else you need if you go with a bigher housing! Just custom shafts and the rest of the donor parts from the FJ80 axle??Well I figure if guys like ou beat on them as much as it seems you do with 37's.. what's the difference if you wouldn't go more than 37's on a hi pinnion 8"? Is a hi pinnion 8" any stronger than a clamshell 8"? Biggest benefit I would see is for the same $$$ as a LT I think you can set up a SAS and you'd get more travel. Im not much into high speed and jumping myself, I like more of the borring crawling stuff ;)

There is no pricing on Diamond axles website. I always figures if I have to ask, I can't afford it. You remember how much you spent on it?

YOU can lighten up these trucks pretty easily. I can't stop adding weight. I carry entirely too much stuff, but I like being prepared for anything I can be

I think the clamshell 8" is stronger, but the CV's are weaker. Maybe about the same? I wouldn't use one. Lots of other better options out there. Dana 44's are almost free and stronger than those 8's.

Mine was $4700 all in. Keep in mind there were some extras in there, like a locker, disk brake conversion, etc. but that's what it cost me. That seems like a lot, but start pricing locked full floaters out from other places for everything you need and the price quickly skyrockets. Yes, I could have done a semi-float curry budget 9" cheaper, but that's not what I wanted. I also drove to Colorado to pick it up from the shop and "save on shipping" but it was really just a good excuse to go explore Colorado and Moab on the way home. :D

Cool, thanks for the reply... I was thinking of picking up cuz at $450 its a good deal but ill pass on it since its not in my budget to build it anyway. I know you are right about building something else. If anything id prefer to just do a 60 since it makes the most sence, the only down side to that is you have to change the rear to something like a 60. Then youre taliking lots of $$$. Either way im probably never gonna go that route, other than gears amd maybe a front locker the truck is plenty for what I built it for! Its my daily driver and like to go camping hiking and on a trial here and there... nothing like what I used to be into back in the day when I had more time for wheeling. What I should do is do my gears and close my TW acc : ) its a love hate thing. Gets me in trouble

Mr. Clupi, have you done anything to strengthen your stock suspension components for the dirty sevens?

That actuall sounds reasonable. Shit it was $900 to just regear my Elocker rear after I blew that bitch apart. Of course that doesn't include the tow which could have gotten really pricey really quick had luck not been with me.

It's a lot of money but sounds fair. With the disk brake conversion you have to do an ABS delete don't you? I imaging rerunning all thos brake lines would be a bitch.

Lol I'm gonna blow apart my rear so fast on 37s... Unless you think ECGS gears are that much stronger? I figure if I do I'll toss in a tundra axle.

One of the scary things about 37s is that ECGS won't warranty them :/

No, what is there to strengthen on the suspension? I can see on the drivetrain.. but what can you do on the suspension?? Even axlels should be fine for me and how I drive! Main thing I can see is if the bearings or joints from the front suspension that might go out a little sooner than if you run LT! (Which I dont have) if you run LT you are extending your track and travel but not going crazy with your offset to put more stress on the wheel bearings..

I used to have a 05 Jeep Rubicon with the stock front Dana 30/44 hybrid on 37's and never broke a thing while wheeling and theres guys that break their 1 tons.. some obviously wheel hard and some have too heavy of a foot..:D or jump their trucks. i dont go wheeling much anymore, main reason i did 37's is so i can have minimal lift (3") and fit as big of a tire to gain more ground clearance for offroad while keeping it practical for daily driving.

You don't need a fancy axle from diamond or currie. Swap in your own. I put a locker, gears, everything you want on my ford 9" for under 2 grand.

Keep in mind old toyotas weigh at LEAST 1500# less than the 2nd gens.
