Went to work last night at 6 pm with ZERO snow on the ground. The river was high, but I was able to make it out to the main road and to work. Here's what I walked out to this morning.

Here's the road leading to my house.

And my truck before I turned around.

Ya had me pissed there for a minute until I saw the bottom part lol. I just hiked God knows how far to get to my house lol. They're calling for 10"-14" today. Doesn't come close to the nearly 9'+ yall have or will have by the end of the season but this is extreme for us nonetheless. The 8"-9" we got 2 weeks ago just melted the past couple days so that's where the flooding is coming from.

Yeah, just ribbing you. It doesn't look like much for snow for somebody from my area, but I know that your public works aren't equipped to handle it. Fortunately it usually melts pretty fast for you guys, but that can make its own challenges.
But, I'll take a winter with two foot snowstorms any time over tornadoes.

Yeah, this is the second different week I've had to walk home. Last storm I just parked at the end of my road and walked maybe 100 yards. This time due to the flooding it was a good 15 minutes or so of walking through snow and ice.

Yeah it's not much compared to yall way up north but we haven't had a winter like this in a long time. Way back in the day we'd get snow more frequently but still not in this amount. The roads weren't even touched this morning by any plows. Probably won't be until tomorrow to be honest. It's supposed to be 47 on Sunday so it'll all melt and flood even more. Yay. I'll admit, I wouldn't mind expierencing a snow storm like yall had, just once though.

X2 that was my question. I was looking at the tree with the sign posted on it. Looks like more than a couple feet is covered. You may need to invest in a snorkel if this keeps up;)

I wanted to know to see if I'd attempt it, rather than walk.

The river was a good 3 foot above the road. The river side of the road where the speed limit sign is lays a little higher due to the banking then the other side. The river was flowing pretty swiftly too. I'll take a pic after the river recedes back to normal levels, it'll put it into perspective how high it was.

Final snowfall total as of this evening. Every inch fell between 10pm last night and today. It tapered off to flurries all afternoon today and stopped around 5:30.

Historically speaking, California's always been very dry. I was reading an article the other day saying that the 20th century was one of the wettest in the past 7000 years for California. They've got a history of droughts that last 10-20 years, and a couple of what the article called 'megadroughts' that lasted for 200 years.

Interesting. Guess that's also before heavily populated. So it wasn't such a concern with water levels.

Guess where all those people are going to move to when they realize it may not get better. >> East coast and most likely Maine;)

Yeah, these megadroughts were during the middle ages, and prior to the 1800's people were pretty thin on the ground in California. Any Native Americans that were living out there didn't farm much, and what they did farm they put in places that they didn't need to irrigate with massive sprinkler systems, lol.

Doubtful. Seems like Oregon and Washington would be more likely candidates. Californians would be horrified at the lack of stupid laws we have up here. Massachusetts would make them feel more at home. ;)

lol, people today are not prepared for that type of living. If they can't handle it and things will only get worse they gonna relocate. It will be interesting for sure to see how it develops over the next decade.

Ha. Those Native Americans and their wastefulness of resources. It's clearly there fault.
