I agree on some points, the Canyon does look very sporty and streamlined. The Taco I think is something you have to get used to, kind of like a pug. That being said I think the argument ends once you step inside a Canyon. For as much as the press wants to talk about how sophisticated and better the new Canyon interior was, I was not impressed at all. I think that speaks to how much older the interior is in a Taco & Frontier rather than how nice GM's interior is. I felt like I was in a cheap Chevy rental car. Nothing on the interior stood out and said quality to me. Styling looked drab and depressing, cluster gauge already looks dated, the shifter and knobs felt meh, and the synthetic leather material I sat on was stiff and hard (z71 model). Besides the infotainment system I'm not sure it's leagues better than the current (out going) Taco. It's better but not as much as the press would have you believe. The new Tacoma interior already looks much sharper and updated and if it feels anything like the Tundra interior it will blow away the Canyon.

I wasn't going to consider getting a Chevy, especially not in the first year of production, however I wanted to check one out in person and give an open and fair assessment. It might look nice on the outside but interior wise where you spend most of the time in your truck, it looked and felt cheap.

Here is my attempt at photoshop modding a 2016. I think it looks great. I'll be first in line to buy a 2016. [IMG]

First, you said you were in a Canyon, which doesn't have a Z71 version, but does have an All-Terrain package. Second, leather is available, but only in the higher SLT trim. While the seating material was a little firm, I thought the seats were rather comfortable overall. Regardless, I have no allegiance to either brand and thought that both the Canyon and the Colorado's interior WAS leagues better than the current Tacoma's. Fit and finish is somewhat close, but design, quality of materials and features were much better in the twins.

You're right, excuse me. I meant the Colorado Z71. I'm sure the Canyon would be a nice step up from the Colorado in terms of quality. My comments still stand, I wasn't impressed with the Colorado's interior quality. It looked drab and felt middle of the road. Is it a step up from the current generation Tacoma? For sure, absolutely. I wouldn't expect less being the Taco is going on a decade long now. The interior quality was better but it did not wow me at all and I was surprised how so-so it felt given how much the youtube media channels talked it up. I currently drive a 2013 4Runner which the interior looks and feels much sharper than the Colorado Z71 I sat in. Again, judging by the looks of the interior in the 2016 Tacoma it seems like it will borrow a lot of design elements and qualities of the current Tundra. If so then the new Taco will have the upper hand in terms of interior quality, feel, and look compared to the GM Twins.

"Anyway, like I was sayin', shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich..."

I didn't want to spend more than a few minutes in photoshop editing. Thats why you can see thee lip and the bumper doesn't follow the grill lines. Its not supposed to be realistic, just give a remote idea of what it may look like with a bumper and bigger tires.

You better tuck that in before it gets caught on a trip wire.

Depends. For me it'd be way cheaper. For you in Califournia where shipping is cheap because there's 30% of all Tacoma's in the state and everything is competitive probably not.

I spent about $6300 on my S/C installed, which is actually a really good deal up here. SCS rims and tires would be $1900. A procomp 6" lift can be had for another $2500. The grill is another $200-$500 depending on whether it's grillcraft, :homer:, :homer: ripoff, etc. So for that rig for me it'd cost about $4800. It won't even cost close to $2500 to get everything installed, so for my area it is cheaper than a S/C.

$4390 USD = $5531.62 CAD All the prices I listed were in Canadian Dollars. Anyways the point is that if you can afford the S/C, you can afford those mods to make your 2016 truck look like that.
