The machined blocks are what transfer the force down to the slider. The clevises are how the tie rods attach to the blocks on either end

This slider isn't completely done. The center tube needs to be mated to the frame.

It pulls some of the force off the rack and transfers it to the other end like a swing steering setup. Helps with people who blow seals and break housings

Gotcha. I'm just not seeing how the clevises attach in my head..

Fuck i need to take a few days off of work and do this already
Would make a huge difference as far as longevity goes if the rack just has to worry about pushing and pulling

Just saw this last page after i last posted... come on guys

They are normal clevises that thread onto the inner tie rod end, and a bolt goes through the heimed tie rod. Except now there is a block that encloses both sides, with the bolt going through it too, that connects it down to the slider. Stabilizes the ends against sideways forces.

The picture itself is pretty self explanatory imo, just think about it... its kind of like double shearing stuff i guess if you really had to simplify it

If you hear a whining noise its probably the pump, try adding some more fluid. That solved it for me at least temporarily. If the rack boots are full of fluid or leaking its going out. My new rack from rack doctor gets here tomorrow, my rack is pretty bad!

I also had some real bad whine from mine. Especially during the winter. I was thinking about replacing it until I found out how much Toyota wanted for one. I threw in the royal purple stuff and it took away the whine and been working fine since. It's an option.

Yeah I also have over 200,000 on mine as well. It started with a minor whine while turning. Then it just got worse. Every time I turn on the truck it would whine until it warmed up. I figure a bottle fluid was worth a try. It was a while back when I added it but it was just royal purple power steering fluid. If you google it I'm sure you'll find it. About 10.00 a bottle. Worse case it doesn't help and you buy a new pump. Good luck bud.

I heard it's bad to use ps fluid in our pumps.. I was considering taking the res off and cleaning it out. It wines bad even when idling and revving it...after 35s it's gotten worse. Somedays I hardly hear it though
