Grrr I hate chasing electrical problems.

Just double checking, think I found the culprit.
66 Mustang, I'm thinking solenoid issue.
In short, I'm cleaning up the engine bay wiring and rerouting. After putting it back together, I went to start the car. I noticed I couldn't hear my fuel pump humming, but tried to start it anyway. It started after a good 3 seconds, but stayed on after I pulled the keys out. The starter was still spinning too. I ran around the car and unplugged the starter lead on the solenoid.

No keys in the ignition, NO wire on 'S' (switch) post. No wires on 'I' (to protect the system)
I am getting a full 12V out of the positive post that goes to the Starter. Like the solenoid is 'stuck' engaged. With no keys in the car. I disconnected the started cable, just to be safe. Is my solenoid fried? Been cleaning up wiring and did drop the solenoid when rerouting. Wondering if it busted inside? leaving it engaged. I don't want to fry anything.

Check all of your grounds, make sure theyre clean and tightened down right, and not accidentaly grounding on anything extra.
Thats the easiest thing to check 1st then work your way to the solenoid.

It could be the opposite, it could be a lowered x-runner w/ supercharger, wide 20s, and a hydraulic ebrake.

I believe it has to do with your post count. I dont think they give out free stickers to new members with a low post count.

Disconnect the starter and run voltage to the solenoid directly and hear if it disengages or not.

This is actually the original light bar from Elusive Elements before Jerry got the design from them. It was marketed at $135 for a group buy. The dood probably didn't get the memo, I'll bet he was a customtacos member.

***edit -- Also the Elusive Elements model came TIG welded, iirc, Jerry's are mig. Not that it makes a difference after it's rattle canned.

Thanks guys. Went to Oriellys this morning and got a new solenoid. Last night I found my test light and found the solenoid shorted and welded itself in the 'open' position. I had taken all wires coming out of the solenoid off prior to reconnecting and just tested it with no output. It was hot even when the car was off, keys out.

Put the new solenoid in, tested it, and now driving it around town! Turned out to just be a shitty brand solenoid we put in 6 years ago. Finally gave in.
