So i have an ideafly apollo, but might be purchasing a new airframe for it due to a few cracks. are there other airframes out there, in a similar size, that I might want to look at? It's getting a little cramped and I think its a little flimsy, especially with fpv and a brushless gimbal, along with a bigger battery.
Any ideas on a frame that I could transfer everything over to?

No, maybe. Not 3 though lol. Ideally I would get a long range TBS disco with a GP4.

maybe a flamewheel 450... I'm sure there are a ton of frames out there that are roughly the same size...

Just ditch it and get an Inspire or Iris+... :D lol

Trappy and his band of merry degenerates are assholes and part of the problem... I'd never help fund their 'stunts' by purchasing from TBS...

I so wanna get into this, and I have a butt load of questions. I've posted earlier in this thread about flying regular helis, and planes, no expert, but not a total noob. I so want a quad, but not sure what I want or need. Not going to drop a wad for a beginner, but don't want a total POS either. I understand R/C anything is spendy (have raced surface models since the mid 80's). So, I guess my question is loaded, but, is there a half-assed model for a couple hundred bones that's a substantial size that I can fly, and then grow into? OK, go ahead and educate me.

Like Large said, Phantoms come pretty cheap these days but there isn't much room to grow... I really like the Iris as its good for both beginners and advanced flyers due to the autopilot... You may be able to find an Iris+ for 500 used....

Avoid the Blade product as you'll get bored pretty quickly...

Is the X525 generic kit I see out there worth even having? What about the Turnergy stuff from HobbyKing? I have batteries (mostly 3s, but some 2s and 4s of varying Mah) and a radio/receivers (6 or 8 channel) a Spectrum DX6i.

What gimbal is it? It's possible if you have enough channels on your radio

I have enough channels but do I go through the flight controller or just straight from the receiver? It's just a china two axis brushless with its own gimbal controller

I have the Tarot 2D, which is probably the same gimbal or similar enough. I went straight to the receiver and it works great! I had to make some tweaks to the gimbal using the included tuning software, but it was really easy. Just stuff like setting the center point and how fast it moves.

Flew with my idroneLink again this past weekend... it now has audio alerts which is awesome.. I use my bluetooth earbuds and put one side in... since I'm using my iphone, I don't have access to waypoints, but the guys at Fighting Walrus Radio are working on iphone implementation (it already exists for the ipad).
