Spoon's above is also an 8.4.

    I've got the 8.0 e-locker

rctoy had the 8.4 (though he's a first gen) and he has broken a couple ring and pinions.

ECGS said they will warranty their 3rd's for Ford 9" diffs even on race trucks. Though it's a 9" not the Toyota 8...

It is at their discretion which is why they add that in. If they thing it was their fault they will cover it, if it is your fault then they won't.

Though I will say they never asked me any questions at all. I just told them my diff started knocking so I pulled it and found 3 missing teeth. They asked for my name, looked my order up in the system, gave me an RMA number and told me to mail it to them. About 3 weeks later I got it back in the mail.

There you go :) cost is close! A little more on tires, the rest depends on how much work you wanna do as far as chopping your firewall/ body mount relocation ( or LT) and how much do you want to steer ;)

Now that I got to experience cutting the first set of fenders my original fenders are getting ready to be cut:eek:

So my Question is why is there so many diffs being blown up? Should I keep my third as a spare?

Or just pull the broken third and driveline out and drive home in front wheel drive like I did last time!

I did that, but it still crunches and knocks! Would be nice to have a full floater for these cases; just pull the rear axles and drive home in front wheel drive.

Thats a good way to do it! I got a better one: get some lunch tray from your local cafeteria and strap them on your rear wheels, disconnect your driveline and no more pulling out the diff next time :) I learned that from friends high school stories of front wheel drive donuts

My bearings were fresh, there wasn't much slop, and there was no third member in there at all. If you ever changed rear wheel bearings you know it makes the press grunt getting the axles out, but I'm sure this is horrible advice and not the right thing to do. I got home though.

Do you still carry 2 spare tires since you stopped breaking wheels and destroying tires?

Ya, but I haven't needed them once. I have considered cutting all that crap off and doing a flat bed of some sort, but the weight bias is perfect right where it is and I don't really want to dick that up.

I often wheel in BFE alone, and that is the biggest reason I upgraded the rear axle to a full floater. Where I go there might not be anyone down that same road for months, and there is no cell reception. You have to get your junk home, or start walkin'.

Google map Seneca, Oregon. That's where I hang out at, and from there South to the Nevada border is mostly apocalyptic wasteland where it is perfectly acceptable to drive like mad max and there are far more cows than people. It's not that far of a drive, come on down!
