the programming issue is, they are programmed by the vin number, ill figure it out and when I do ill tell you all what the issue was- and file ifr, I put a fuel pump in it,thats it, ever done that job?- and ill wash as many of my intakes with ether as I choose- it worked for my briggs when I was twelve and it works to this day, it seats tubeless tires, it starts wet wood, on fire itll get you high and its a great mouthwash in a pinch- I love starting fluid-your opinion aint gonna change it

If the ECU does not want to enable the Fuel and Spark - why would it bother to allow the starter to crank?? I'd check the Wire from the ECU to the fuel pump for a starting point.

I believe I read before that's how the anti theft works to keep someone from starting the truck without the key with the correct code in it.

Did you take a look at the pdf I posted on post #146? It gives the specs(in ohms) for the cps.

Does anybody think that when he unplugged his battery the ECU unit had a capacitive discharge resetting the unit. It wasn't until he drove that something triggered a sensor (or a bad sensor somewhere) causing the ECU to revert back to not starting?

    Hope you get this fixed.

Your key hasn't been around a magnet or anything like that has it? Did you ever try it with another key?

2.7 base tacomas apparently don't have an immobilizer as stated earlier in this thread.

Gotcha. Haven't looked on here for a bit so I didn't know if that was ever cleared up.

Please do let us know, I'm hoping that's all it is. You gonna get Toyota parts or just get whatever the parts house has?

Well I'm not going to say you are wrong - but If I was programming the unit I'd think that by doing this will just let the customers (or thieves) just burn out the starter and trash the battery. (That Toyota many have to pay to fix if under warranty) I'd just kill the whole thing if there is a security issue.

As a second thought - I thought I'd hear the fuel pump click on when I turn the key to on (Not start) ?? Or am I wrong??

It wont start at all if theres a security issue.

The problem is the ECU or, if your lucky, a wire to the ECU.

Either way the ECU needs to be replaced.

You're still spreading that propaganda around? I'll let you know when my truck nukes the neighborhood from the ECU.
