Was just thinking the same thing. Seems odd for a big hunk of steel designed for running into rocks to cost four times that of a machine engineered for recovery.

Hummmm I didn't think about this until now. Some of you guys know I'm building a double tire carrier on the rear of my bed. My question is here in Colorado is there any laws that will limit the amount of the tire carrier sticking out the back of my bed. It will most likly stick out about one to two feet beyond my bed. Would that be an issue? Any info would be appreciated.

The vehicle code states: "The load upon any motor vehicle alone shall not extend to the rear beyond the last point of support for a greater distance than that equal to two-thirds of the length of the wheelbase of the vehicle carrying such load."

If your wheelbase is 12 feet, 8 feet would be 2/3. So you can safely stick out up to 8 feet past the last point of support, which would either be the end of the bed or the tailgate if you have it down.

4 feet and under, measured from the taillights them selves, does not require a red flag. My canoe rides on top and hangs over the back about 2 feet, never had an issue.

Thanks for the response, i guess i was looking more for local pricing from les schwab in colorado. I can get them here for 178/tire, but would wait till i got to colorado if they were much cheaper on site at les schwab. Not looking for exact figures, just wondered if anyone recalled them being around 150 or less per tire.

I am going with some pizza cutters and it is either these or st maxx's i guess.

Oh well can you use the website with a local zip code to see availability and price? If so use 80120 or 80030. At the very least it should give you a Colorado location that you can call up and get pricing.
