What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I'm probably going with 4:88's and 35's down the road. Hopefully it's now too undergeared...

 

True. I may wait til I convert it or just regear rear first then the front after I convert it

 

Im sure it pulls good haha. IMO 4.56s was perfect for my truck. I just need a tad larger tires and my speedo will be spot on, the gearing is super close to stock

 

Time to step into some 12.50s

We'lll see how this turns out. I still think it will rust. To get a good ground on your antenna, the mount has to have a clean connection to the body. It won't get that with powder coat or paint on the mount. Maybe I'm wrong, but my past experiences with grounding an antenna leads me to having some bare metal on the mount.

 

I would think it'd save $ too, to do the rear and then regear whatever front diff you pick up as it's waiting to be put on.
At least that's my plan. But with 4.56s

5.29s for 35s especially for the auto.

I loooovvvvveeee it in my 5 speed. And its only just a bit over geared.

It sounds like it's getting some holes in it. So depending on how bad it is, I might just upgrade the entire thing.

 

Definitely agree.

I had 2 issues with my CB for the longest time. One being that I painted too much on where it mounted through the tailgate latch. The second being that the bolt-hole was too small allowing it to ground out instead of leaving a gap for the silicone washer to be useful. after that I've been getting a 1 or less across the board!

Hmm, okay. As long as it doesn't too crazy over stock.

Y'all may have talked me into going with 5:29's with 35's instead. I just really don't want to overgear to the point that 4:88's would be better for 35's that will see mostly highway to get to trips than off road.

Go with the Magnaflow catback if you can afford it if you need to upgrade. Sounds amazing and yet still quite when needed....

 

Ouch. Well as we're waiting to convert the front why not just fork out whatever for just the back and as we're collecting parts for the conversion the front can wait.
That might save $ in the short/long term.

 

Maybe I'm not noticing a lack of torque due to my 33s low weight. These 33x1050s weigh only 2 pounds more than my old 31s, I think the tread width is more narrow.

If thats the case then I'm content with not getting heavier 33x1250s

I had to drill a bigger hole in mine as well. It was too tight and shorting it out. After drilling I was getting just above 1. So I'll probably have to sand some of my paint off where it connects to the truck once I install it. I've only user the damn thing a couple times anyway so it's probably not even worth the hassle. I think I'm going to be getting a handheld soon to see how it works. If I like it I'll rip out my other one.

Mikes truck, the truck i drove, has 33x10.5r15s.

im sure the difference between 4.56 and 4.88 is pretty small. But your truck is also basically stock.

His has:

Heavy ass steel front bumper with winch
Full set of steel skids
Super heavy ass steel rear bumper
fridge
a super heavy OSK
Topper/Bedrack RTT

That is where the regearing helps a lot with.

So im not surprised you aren't missing it. But if you ever mount up with armor and stuff i bet you will.

Our exhaust pipes are 2.5 right? So I need a magna flow with 2.5 in/out Right?
